Capitals are getting a very, very good player in Burns who despite being a veteran, can really help the team on their way to be respectable in the league again after making the play-offs last year since 2015. Capitals are not losing too much and yet, this deal makes the team much better. Also like the option of using Burns as a D or as a RW. Good thing to have.

Accept. Calgary is in cap hell (no pun intended) this off-season, and by my calculations it will be even worse next year.
Burns is a good player, but that contract is killing me....and Kulikov is better in that role.
With Lashoff and Luce I get a good defenseman for both NHL and AHL at a much more affordable (and cost certain with 4 and 3 years left, respectively) cap hit.
