Detroit - Colorado

I guess the holiday trade freeze has ended

To Colorado:
R. Stone (68)
J. Thornton (77)
C. Hanas (45)
TB's 5th, 2021

To Detroit:
N. Bastian (63)
C. Klingberg (78)

Accept, confirmed. I like Bastian, think he could have a decent future in Detroit, while Klingberg is basically a younger version of Stone, depth to tide things over as my rebuild progresses. Hanas was a 5th, so it's sort of like trading two 5th and, well, I'm not terribly worried about reducing the number of late picks I had/have. I can, of course, afford the mildly higher cap hits of Bastian and Klingberg.

Unrelated, isn't it weird that Joe Thornton's consistency is the same as his age?

Colorado accepts. We don't come out as the winners here, but as a cap-strapped non-playoff team, something had to change. Bastian is a very solid player but a tad expensive. Stone is a slightly cheaper replacement for Klingberg who'll likely take Bastian's spot. Thornton's a cheap body who might see a few games. Hanas is more fringe prospect depth but well-rounded enough to stick.
