Korshkov: 3.45x0.33x2y = 2.277m (I believe the rule rounds to the nears 50K). So are both Buf and Van asking for the full 2.28 be applied to this years cap, as opposed to any in next year? Also this is my first attempt at this, the numbers need confirmed from Dan. But just making sure I understand what VAN/BUF are asking for.

The total amount retained by each team, assuming 25 games left, is 3.45/3*(25+82)/82 = 1.5M. Spreading that out over 25 games makes for a penalty of 1.5M*82/25 = 4.922M for the remainder of this season. Both BUF and VAN have enough room to do that.

(or you could just do it all in one line and say 3.45/3*(25+82)/25 = 4.922)

Thanks I remembered something similar in a CHI trade I believe so needed the prorating update. We should pin this calculation in the retention rule
