While Stucker has been solid for me, I have a bit of log-jam on defense. I want to play Vlasic and Cotton more and have Heatherington as the 7th D ideally. Jake Chiasson is an interesting bottom six power forward, Dallas Stars identity type of player. he's still young, so can play in the AHL for now. Samsonov was the odd-man out, so this deal provides me with a little bit extra roster spot flexibility.

Montreal accepts. Would have preferred a better D, but Stucker is an upgrade on the third pair. Crozier has not come along as quickly as I hoped and hopefully this can stop the bleeding a bit. The Habs have several prospects of similar calibre to Chiasson and a few got callups ahead of him. Samsonov has maybe a 2% chance of boosting, if not he can ride out the season on the AHL pine.
