A memorable night of playoff games as the round 2 heads towards its inexorable end...
In OTT, the Sens find themselves down by 2 just four minutes into the game thanks to quick goals from Boldy and Tornkvist. Connor McDavid halves the lead halfway through the game, but the Sens enter the third needing a comeback... which they get. In fact, the Sens tie up the game no less than thrice in the third (say that twice). The drama culminates with Raphael Lavoie throwing, I dunno, a questionable hipcheck at Andrei Svechnikov's knee, taking him out for the rest of the game and 3 weeks beyond*. On the ensuing powerplay, I guess McDavid wins the faceoff, and Hanifin leads a shorthanded rush through the Pens' powerplay to deke out Campbell and end the series. Yeah, I dunno, sorry Trevor, the Pens made an impressive rebound this season but the Sens' D can't be stopped, apparently.
Over in Tampa Bay, Hischier scores the first goal for the Bolts, and Barkov ties it up in the second. Pastrnak scores a Rare Powerplay Goal later on to give the Bolts a 1-goal lead heading into the third, where all hell breaks loose. Noel Nordh takes out Thomas Wilson (Tom's better-behaved fantasy cousin), earning the second ATI major of the night. Ondrej Kase cashes in a minute into the PP and that's it for the scoring, though penalty of penalties followed. The Bolts end up with an unheard-of 2 powerplay goals on 19 shots, the clear difference in the game, and the Leafs are down 3-2 but not out yet.
Note that because we're down to just one game per conference from here on and we're lagging behind the in-game schedule, Nicholas will be simming both conferences in the next sim (meaning also game 6 of TB-TOR), unless either GM objects/doesn't get new lines in (obviously with the injury & suspension, both need changes). Dunno if he plans Saturday night or Sunday morning.
* actually 17 days, so a 2-game suspension for Lavoie. EHM rounding practices are not commonly accepted elsewhere.
