Erm... isn't the minimum salary 75% of last year's? If there's a rule to make it lower than that, I don't remember reading about it.

A quick addendum to free agency: I know we have some players who will never get 75% of their previous contract...

For players who were unsigned free agents during the 2011-12 season, their minimum bid is 50% of their previous contract.

So, basically, guys like Afinogenov, Poti, Pothier, etc.

Probably won't change a whole hell of a lot, but we'll see.

I believe Washington and Philadelphia have used this rule to their advantage in FA as well.

I snooze I lose I guess.

Any plans to make a rule like this for players who are still UFA in, like, November or December? They start to get desperate then. (Actually the NHL has some Christmas-y deadline).
