In EHM-land, it's use it AND lose it.

I really could have used the EHEC result for EDM-COL. Damn Craig Anderson. Capitals did their part on my bet but the Oilers didn't show up.

Oilers are still hurtin from the flu bug - Smid did have H1N1 but didn't miss a game - he got over it that quickly. Certianly doesn't help that 2 EHEC goals were scored for Edm by guys that are out of the line up in RL.

The Oilers had no excuse, they just played absolutely terrible. You want to talk about players out of the line up?

Darcy Tucker
Cody McLoed
John-Michael Liles
Ruslan Salei
Tom Preissing
Peter Budaj

That's half the defence and 2/3 of the third line!

QFT.

I watched the first period and parts of the second and Edmonton simply had no jump at all. They sustained no offensive zone pressure, had no semblance of a forecheck.

The reason I bet them was because I figured they'd be able to skate circles around COL's slow, and fairly immobile D, with guys like Hannan, Foote, and Clark.

Instead, they played like shit and played really uninspired hockey.

It's also an Avalanche team pitting two rookies and about 3 or 4 others that only have a year of experience under their belt and then another 3 or 4 with only 2 or 3 years compared to the Oilers having one of the best young forward groups mixed with quite a few veterans.

Oilers have no excuse besides effort for losing that game, same with the game against the Canucks. They were flat both games.

I guess none of you have had the H1N1, it's nothing like the regular flu. I'm sure half the team in Edmonton has it, or are feeling the effects. So they technically do have an excuse. I could barely walk up the stairs without almost passing out.
