Dallas offer of 4 years at $950k gives you total value of $3.8M.
Nowhere does it say it has to be guaranteed money it says you can go up to 6 years and even in the example it says 3 years at $15M beats 2 years at $6M. Sorry, but can't see how you can add that after the fact here.A. UFA Bidding Process
1. The bidding process we use will be private bidding. All bids will be submitted to the “Free Agents” account on the message board. The PM will be titled with the player’s name and each PM is to have only one player in the message. If a team wishes to bid on multiple players, a PM for each player must be sent. This is to avoid any problems with the Committee member who checked the bid in the event that they are also bidding on that player.
2. Bids will be submitted with the length, salary, and any extra options (team option, player option, two-way). No-trade clauses are not permitted.
3. Teams can bid on the same player a maximum of three times.
4. The thread in the free agency forum will be updated with the new high bid at the time it is read. If you have submitted a bid after that time and the thread has not been updated, you can assume that your bid is not the highest.
5. All bids will be responded to by the free agent account noting that the bid has been received. It is up to you to figure out if you have the highest bid or not.
B. Bidding restrictions 1. Bids cannot exceed $12,000,000 per season (20% of the cap). 2. Free agent contract offers carry a maximum of six years or five years with a team/player option.
3. Teams are not allowed to bid on players who they had the previous season and then let them walk at season’s end.
C. Determining the winning bid 1. The winning bid will be the one with the highest total salary. For example, three years at $15M would beat two years at $12M, even though the annual cap hit is higher.
2. There will be one exception to the above. Any contract where the yearly salary is more than 49% less than the next highest offer, the second highest bid will win. For example, a one-year contract worth $2M will beat a five-year contract worth $450,000 per season. It is hard to foresee a player taking the extra $250,000 spread out over five years. That is just unrealistic. This is to eliminate the six years at $400,000 beating out two years at $1M type bids.
3. Winning bid yearly salaries cannot be less than 75% of the previous season’s salary. (ex: prev salary 2M, new 1.5M min.)
4. For players who went an entire season without being signed, the minimum yearly salary that can be bid is 50% of the salary listed in the EHEC file.
5. The winning bid must stand alone as the winning bid for 18 hours, up from the previous 12-hour deadline. The reason for the extended time is that there are time zone differences in play and 12 hours could mean 10 pm EST to 10 am EST, where in the Pacific Time Zone, you are out getting drunk from 7 pm to 1 am and sleeping it off past the 7 am hour.
6. The honor system is in place for the Committee to be checking free agent bids. If one of the Committee is in on a player and a bid comes in, he will not check it.
Yes, "unwritten" in the sense that no where is it written that TO and/or PO are added to the final determination.Montreal Canadiens wrote:An "unwritten" rule. Alright. Gotcha.
