Shouldnt he be a UFA like all the others, and therefore, we wait until we start the UFAs ?

He wasn't on an expiring deal that would have him as a UFA after the rollover; he was released from the last 2 years of his contract and became a UFA immediately.

Exactly. Anyone released right now becomes a UFA right now.
