The race for the chase continues with a monster of a schedule tonight. A Rangers win and a Philly loss puts NY in the division lead with just 8 games remaining for both squads. Calgary reclaims 8th place with a win over the Islanders, and the Sharks loss not only puts them down a point in that back and forth battle, but the Shooting Stars pull ever closer, sitting just 3 points out of the playoff picture.

Elsewhere, Carolina sticks it to yet another Eastern Conference and Southeast beast as they take it to 6 rounds in a shootout victory. Columbus wins an absolute essential game over Chicago to help anchor that top spot in the Central, Le Canadiens pick up a couple points as they hold the 7th spot in the East, and LA continues its league dominance as St. Louis sings the blues on their playoff hopes.

Loving the real-life schedule. Here's hoping we can find things to keep us busy this summer so we can use the real schedule again next year.

Come hell or high water, we're not changing the schedule. Most of us are in college, married/engaged, working multiple jobs, etc., etc. As far as I'm concerned, this schedule works perfect for a majority of the guys. Spend 15 minutes a day on the league and you're good to go, rather than an hour every couple days.

Are we Gonna do draft during playoffs for those of us not making the playoffs or has that not been decided yet? Because it is an extra long off season for us.

That's a bit unfair to the teams who are in the playoffs. I hate to make you guys wait, but that makes the most sense. That said, I haven't decided if I'm going to alter EHM's generated playoff schedule to be on the same days as the NHL one. I haven't thought that far ahead.

Most of it probably depends on when I get the draft class done. Now that my computer's kind of back in order, I'll be starting on it again soon.

I'm not sure what you mean by doing a draft for the non-playoff teams during the playoffs. But what if a playoff team wanted to trade up to pick a certain player? It wouldn't make sense to have the draft while the playoffs are still going, unless you were talking about the lottery.

It's not fair to the teams focusing on the playoffs to also be in trade negotiations for draft picks, players, etc. and then also be consumed with scouting for the draft.

Not to mention, you can't very well trade players for picks while you're playing in the playoffs.

I say we do the Draft and the Free Agent Frenzy a week after the cup is won, and then enjoy the summer break till pre-season starts in real life!
That way we can enjoy some time off(not that we work so hard) and give our commissioners a well deserved break.

There's not much difference other than a day or so here and there from the playoffs, but either way it doesn't matter I already said you can run it whatever way you want...you know unless some more people want to jump in?....It's not to late.

The playoff games are just as important to GMs as the regular season ones? There's a huge flaw in that logic.

Personally, I don't like the idea of having to WAIT for the draft. There's no reason why it can't run during the playoffs, just put no time limit on making your choice. If playoff teams can't deal with it, then too bad. Why should I wait for the only part of this season I truly care about. Unless you don't care if I'm completely inactive till then.

Your putting words in my mouth, but either way some teams need all 82 games and thus their regular season games can be just as important or they don't see post season action....you know if you want to go that route.

We're way off base anyways I was merely expressing a relative opinion to Toronto, thought the extra time to maybe deal with your team matters could benefit every team...but I understand your point about trading because even if we delay the input then sometimes guys have changes of heart over a playoff run. But just so you know I wasn't just trying to make this about non playoff teams only.

Except for the fact that the team that wins the Cup selects last and the runner-up selects next to last...and the Conference Finals losers select right before them. The playoffs do determine the draft order.
