2018 Free Agency and Offseason

Dear GMs,
With the end of the draft, free agency is upon us. Here is the news bulletin:
- You may now begin making offers to your own free agents. Consult the
rules for more details.
-
TL;DR: For each player, consult column C (UFA?), select the appropriate column from A/B (RFA/UFA), then apply any bonus for players signing their second contract
- The rollover will occur on Saturday, August 18. If you have any POT boosters to sign, you really should do it before then.
- The file will be updated with all of the draftees and trades later today (I have to get all of the draft positions and prospect teams right).
- Various parts of the site have been updated. The lines updating page works again, if you feel like submitting lines that will be ignored.
- We have a large number of vacancies.
Stay tuned for more.

The file is updated to right after the draft. Everyone should have the correct draftees drafted in the right spot. If you find any errors, let me know.

From draft pick trades, I'm missing...
2019 VAN 3rd
2019 WPG 4th
2019 VAN 5th
Also, you replied to the Goodrow deal saying neither Woll nor Primeau boosted but that deal and the Davidson deal don't seem to have been entered yet.

I did update the .ehm files with those trades but I suppose I forgot to update the zip and then reverted to a slightly older one after my first attempt at entering the draft failed. Oh well, I'll enter them again.

I edited the calculator to put the current salary columns first, so there should be no confusion as to which to use.

I have to input a lot of trades/signings and update past the 21st first, then we'll have a few more days to re-sign FAs before starting UFA.

All of the pending signings and trades have been input. Please check that everything is as you expect it. I'll advance the file past the 21st tomorrow night to give you time to sign any remaining boosters/fix any mistakes that I made. Once that's done, we'll have another few days to make any signings and make moves for the orphaned teams before heading to UFA (exact date TBA).
Also, I think all of the GM Office pages should be working now. I finally figured out what was broken on the roster page and it turns out there was a typo in the 'Change Organization Status' thing. If you did that anytime in the last month (I think PHI did a couple earlier), they won't have gone through. Sorry.
The Press Box page should also work again, although the errors are not working perfectly yet. Images must be PNG/JPEG < 2MB in size.

Got around to checking contracts. Found the following (for any non-Dan folks reading this, there's an extra year on contract length since this is before the rollover).
Adam Fox should be 680k.
Alex Pietrangelo should be 6.95M.
Brandon Carlo should be 5 years.
Brendan Smith should be 3 years.
Eric Comrie should be 4 years.
Evgeni Zakurin should either be 700k for current term or 1.05M for 4 years.
Jake Virtanen should be 4 years.
Jake Walman should be 3 years.
Mikael Salmivirta was supposed to be qualified, not signed.
And apparently not being in the spreadsheet doesn't mean you're getting the minimum anymore? Seems to be true for the following:
Anton Cederholm
Brandon Prophet

RFA's won't accept pay cuts (except from rounding).

After making a special point of saying it was only a qualifying offer, I went ahead and put it in my spreadsheet as a signing and didn't bother to look at which witch was which before adding it to the list.

UFA will begin on Friday at noon (the 24th).
Be there or be square. More importantly, sign your free agents by then.

The next best defenseman available there was Wilde (who was a steal at #20) and Miller will be better. Speaking of which, I was supposed to update the strengths for Miller, Kravtsov and someone else that I had not intended to make such a weakling.

Keep in mind some of the old farts are retiring and many of the young ones are qualified RFAs.

If they're under 42 and don't have the retiring flag set, you can sign them. I'll take the ~180 worst OV unsigned players over 31 (priority for those over 38) and set them to retire before updating the file in a few days.

He had one on his previous contract and it was never removed. I'll undo it, chill.

Just remembered that I hadn't gotten round to checking the recent file yet.
Alexis Vanier should be 3 years (unless the post in the contracts thread was the error).
Dustin Tokarski should be 2 years.
Charlie Coyle exercised an option he shouldn't've had (a la Skille).

Found that I still had the file I used to come up with rough numbers last season so fixed the file and gave qualified RFAs their qualifying offers, advanced the game, and ran it.
If you want to see what these are based on, check
here. And do remember that these are very rough numbers (my being at 25 skaters with only 1 goalie signed is an example of the fun).
Nashville already at 51 contracts is an issue though.
1st # = current non-junior contracts
2nd # = players factored into salary
3rd # = salaries of those players
4th # = salaries + minimum salaries to get up to roster minimum (22 skaters)

File updated again. Sorry, I didn't have the patience to enter more UFAs, though most of the bids are complete now. The preseason starts on September 5 so I'll get them in before then. I won't input lines before the 4th so you can update them if you want but don't expect to see them entered.
We are now past September 1st so the minimum offer on qualified RFAs is now just a 20% raise. The UFA bidding rules apply too, so you need to exceed the minimum offer (20% raise @ 1 year) to bid. RFAs who are unsigned after September 15th will sign their QOs then; pretend that they're holding out until then.

I updated the file (players.ehm) on the website (but not the zip because I'm lazy). I decided that we'll start simming tomorrow and do two days at a time for the preseason since I don't want to do 15 games every 3 days. Get those lines in if you haven't already.

Injury lengths are in the statistics.ehm file so it shouldn't be.

Something's off then. How about Jarome Iginla's injury? He was supposed to come back sometime in January. Is this correct in statistics.ehm? Or if Brett logs in first, would you be a sweetheart and take a look in GMO?
Don't have access to the game at the moment and can't read statistics.ehm...

Jordan Greenway should be 610k.
Yann Sauve should be 2 years.
Ladislav Smid should be 2 years.
Adam Lowry should be 2 years.
Colby Armstrong should be 710k.
Lukas Kaspar should be with Florida.
Jordan Schroeder should be with Philly.
Nashville's still at 51 contracts.

I updated the files, including EHEC.zip if you still want it.
I had a look into getting orphan teams set up with their acting GMs in GMO and it's possible but I won't be able to get it done tonight. So for those of you lucky temps, you can send in lines for your second teams the old-fashioned way via email to commissioner at ehecblahblah. I should be able to get that working by season start. Oh, and this means no sim tonight either - I'll do the first three preseason game days tomorrow.
