Alright, the season starts tomorrow (albeit with one game) and some of you have a work to do to get under the cap and/or contract limit. Get to it.

A few teams will be okay once their LTIR kicks in; you'll have to crunch those numbers yourselves. In fact, you should be over 60M for your first game to get maximum LTIR benefit - but under 60M + the injured player's salary.

Because he's under 24 and therefore a) is not eligible for waivers b) has a $0 cap hit in the AHL. Sending down guys over 24 saves almost no cap space because the maximum discount is 800k and you have to call up someone to replace, usually at a 600k hit.

Follow Vik's lead. He has three guys under 24 making 1.6-2.7 stashed in the AHL partly because he can't afford to keep them all up at once. Such is life. It is rather unfair to those players but not against the rules in any way - I had to send down Jacobs at the start of the last season for the same reason.

You have 59.69M on the roster and 0.28M Irving buyout = 59.97M total. What's the problem?

I fixed ARI by sending down Stanley.

NAS & NYR have been over for too long, so I sent down Barbashev and Capobiano (NAS) and Kapanen (NYR) after the game. It's up to you guys to fix your lines without going over again (and you need to be well under for a few games to compensate for being over to start).

The problem is you spent the start of the season over the cap, so even though you have lots of LTIR now you have to send down at least one of Boeser/Marner/Zacha/White/Noel for a few games to get back under.

Good to see that you're back. I called up DeBrincat to max out Artyukhin's LTIR, but you also need to be under 60M for a few games first. Artyukhin's LTIR isn't enough to cover Kapanen either.

Yes. If you have an U24 player injured, the best thing to do is to leave them up for 1 game to maximize LTIR, then send them down until they're healthy again.

Actually I should amend this to say that there's almost no reason to keep an U24 player on LTIR on your roster, except if you max out the LTIR, then keep them on your roster to count towards the 22-man minimum. Still, that will only help if your roster salaries are above 60M, and it kind of goes against the intent of the 22 player minimum so we may have a look at that rule in the offseason.

Well, that's why I corrected myself. You either demote the player or keep them up to get the LTIR. It wouldn't make sense to allow both. LTIR is supposed to allow you to add a replacement at the same salary of the injured player and you can do exactly that if you just demote them, plus it lets you accrue more cap space before the trade deadline.

We haven't really been explicit about what happens if you demote and then recall someone, mainly because it would be a pain in the ass if we had to keep checking and adding/removing LTIR daily.
