How the draw works: There will be (at least) 3 draws of 4 unique random numbers between 1 and 14 to determine the top three selections. The winning combination is taken from the 2016 NHL draft lottery odds table:

(There are extra draws - more than is likely to be necessary - in case the 2nd/3rd draws pick the same teams as the 1st and/or 2nd draws.)

If you haven't done this before, here's the best way to keep yourself from going crazy/getting irrationally upset when trying to look up the pick.

When the 4 numbers are generated - reorder them from lowest to highest in order to look up the draft ball.

ie. if the ticket came up as 4, 1, 2, 11
that would be 1, 2, 4, 11 which = CGY which really = BUF [edit] which actually = DAL via trade

This was a random test I did btw before anyone accuses me of reverse jinxing!!

Hey, you didn't drop to fourth, which is the most likely result after finishing last. And at the moment I have Dach projected as better than Thornton was originally rated so top five is a fine place to pick.
