Waivers for players over 24

How much of a savings do you receive if you send a veteran to the AHL? Example, Joe Smith makes $3.500.000, so is the cap savings $3.5M or is it a percentage?

You save 800k. In your example, it'd be a 2.7M cap hit.

The savings are realistically only $200k if you're replacing the player with a league minimum $600k contract, so as a new GM you're probably better off buying out really bad contracts if you can't move them.
