to Pittsburgh
TB 1st 2020 (#29 overall)
to Buffalo
D Jeremy Roy (81)
The re-shaping of our defense this off-season has pushed Roy into a smaller role for us. He was probably going to end up our #5 guy with some PK time this year, and eventually, when Robertson was ready, one of our current group was going to have to go. It could've been Forsling, but Roy is more valuable, and with so many key players on contracts that expire in two more seasons, the extra year on Roy's deal was a possible issue.
So, while I didn't have to make this move now, it was likely that Roy was going to be out of here within a year. I like this draft, so am happy to add another 1st rounder in it. Plus, this leaves us with some cap space that can be used if someone we like enough is available in FA or something.
