Eastside's Hockey Elite Collide

The award was presented to the NHL Broadcasters’ Association in 1974 to commemorate the late Jack Adams, coach and general manager of the Detroit Red Wings during the club’s glory days of the late 1940’s and early 1950’s. This is an annual award presented by NHL Broadcasters’ Association to the NHL coach adjudged to have contributed the most to his team’s success.

In EHEC, the Jack Adams is jointly awarded to the coach and General Manager, because we know who holds the puppet string.

With a total of 11 votes, John Tortorella is the 2009-2010 Jack Adams Award winner. He guided an average New York team to a 2nd round playoff exit, after finishing first in their division with 113 points, having the best record in the league on the road and having the 3rd strongest Penalty Kill.

With a total of 4 votes, Bill Barber is the 2010-2011 Jack Adams Award winner. He coached the Coyotes to an impressive 54 win, 114 point season and topped it off with a Stanley Cup. He can thank Glen Ramsden for that.

With a total of 6 first-place votes and 24 points, Randy Cunneyworth and whoever the hell Tom Webster is are the 2011-2012 Jack Adams Award winners. It took the both of them to earn the Jets 114 points and a surprising turnaround as the top team in the Eastern Conference, followed by an even more surprising appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals. I don't know what the two co-coaches did because Tom Kennish set all the lines himself.
