This is what I got:
All salaries totaled from Team Page: $57,154,311
Subtract Bourque at 1/2 price + Jeffrey LTIR (2M): $55,667,506
Salaries from ANA deal: Voracek - $1,181,534.46, combo + $1,300,843.43
Total: 55,786,815.47
Jagr Buyout Total: $61,786,827.47
My apologies, I admittedly made the ANA deal without checking into detail. I ball parked the figures, and then Bourque got suspended for killing Donskoi. I have recalled Sproul(600k) and demoted Carle (1.4M) which clears up 800k while Bourque is suspended.
Thanks for Brad and Quinn for asking, iirc you both spent some time over the cap before. Particularly Brad, I think its quite amusing you would ask how long I've been over. Your EHEC finances are infamous, and at this point, the idea of penalizing anyone is unrealistic. A precedent for not penalizing anyone for breaking the financial rules has been set. Many teams have been over for long periods of time. Why would Adam start now?

1. Maybe stop making so many fucken trades and you wouldn't have to worry about pro-rated contracts
2. If your over cap, that means ethier A: Your lazy or B: You never learned math
3. If no one is gonna get penalized, be it now or during the off-season then I'm out

Voracek deal was first if the season. The math is simple, but time consuming. I get zero enjoyment out of a super realistic finance system. And stop being so dramatic.

If I were Adam, I'd start enforcing the cap rules specifically because of attitudes like this. Your
tu quoque fallacious argument is pretty offensive to those of us who try to abide by the rules regardless of who isn't being punished for breaking them. Maybe instead of pointing fingers, you should just try to set a better example.

I'll do some more investigating into Dan's program and see what we come up with in regards to that. But, yes, penalties do need to start being enforced because they're there and they're there for a reason. I'm Excel-illiterate, so I have to rely on people like Tim to try and give me some sort of automation or easy filing system with these things, and it's put a burden on him that's sometimes hard to bear.
Parker's right. We'll all grown up enough to handle our own financial status in the league. Tim has to account for 30 teams which makes it difficult. You only have to account for one. In a lot of cases, it's as simple as having a 20-man roster. Having cheap options for call-ups is also important so we don't have to plug in AHLers making 1.5M any time an injury pops up.
The teams that are over are fully aware of their situations and I expect them to be handled. I'll be a bit more lenient about the penalties outlined in the Rulebook for the next week because of the holiday season bringing familial obligations and other things that are more worthy of your time, but once Christmas passes, I'm going to get back to doing my job the way it should be done. That includes salary cap penalty enforcement.
We'll overhaul the financial system over the summer to try and make things easier on everybody involved.

I was only asking, if you've been over the cap all season then I would have thought that would have been an issue, but over the cap for the past only week or so wouldn't have been as bad.
I spent time over the cap
last season, and was penalized multiple times for it. So how would a penalty for you be unrealistic?

The only time I've ever played a game over the cap is when 38OA Tom Preissing did his magical EHM-AHL-to-NHL-recall without my request after advancing a day. It happened a few times last season and I had to keep requesting his demotion IIRC.

The game I was over, which I assume was when Tim updated the numbers, was against DET two games ago when I re-called Rankin. The next game vs. NYI I started my backup goaltender and sent down Rankin. According to the rule-book, I have satisfied the GM's need for me to be penalized. Like Adam suggested, I have multiple NHL/AHL swaps I can do that free up close to 2M in cap space. Being permanently over was never going to be an issue, which is why I was never concerned. Furthermore, I still don't see how we can decide to start strictly enforcing the rules for cap violations from the rule-book.
MTL was over FOREVER last season, there was almost 100 posts about his payroll in last years thread. He never had to forfeit a game, and wasn't removed from the league. Adam had to take over FLA finances, he never payed any penalties either. VAN has been over for awhile iirc, and so was STL who's chiming in now to. I don't think its fair to start strictly enforcing the cap rules mid-season, but if Adam wants to it's fine. My team's bottom six/d-pairing is flexible financially, and I'll start paying closer attention.
Parker, instead of giving people advice on setting a better example, why don't you start by stop calling everyone a faggot?
Quinn, your a G and I don't know why I mentioned you in the post. I <3 you and I'm sorry.

I updated it, it should work. I tested in on my laptop with Vista and it worked fine after I remembered to follow my own instructions. Use it if you want. I included files for LTIR/cap penalties as of about a month ago, so they're out of date.

I was only over the cap for 1 update during the season, and I obviously did not understand how the cap system was working, so had a different number than Tim or Adam, and therefore it took me a couple sims to get back under and I was penalized by having Carey Price sit the entire time until I got under the cap.
I agree with you on the FLA part, but he sadly had to give Frolik away for nothing, so that's kinda a penalty in it's own right.

^^ Needs to be taken care of.
Part of this is my fault because it's just entirely too difficult to keep up with. Pat, Tim, and I will be discussing changes to the financial policy for next season to hopefully be announced before we start doing contracts and extensions. The goal will be to simplify and streamline the process on all accounts. From trading to waivers to draftees to extensions.

You don't have the room for Kreps. You were to close to the cap to begin with, and now a 2w> injury has you messed up.
If your going to be a cap team, you need to have cheaper players in the AHL with TW that can be swapped in if the short-term injury bug hits.
I'll see you in the playoffs.

My number on my sheet was $315,000 under the cap, Holland on LTIR gives it $715,000, and Kreps only makes $650,000.
Don't worry, me and Tim will discuss this via PM and see where the discrepancy is. I was under the cap previous to the Cullen trade which waiving Gordon (who made the same salary ) should have left me under the cap.
You probably won't see me in the playoffs unless you're going to beat one of the teams ahead of me which I would put money on them winning. Even Boston!
