I suspect, for trade entry purposes, the logical thing will be to make it Ashton for TB 3rd, then if Ashton is re-signed, the 3rd can be traded for the 2nd. Since I'm probably entering this tonight, someone will have to say otherwise if they disagree! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm a little wary of allowing conditions that have a chance of being violated. In this case, we control whether players can sign deals or not, so I'm ok with it if it goes like this:

The day before the start of the 2021 entry draft, TB must elect whether to send FLA 2nd 2021, in which case they will be allowed to (not forced to) re-sign Ashton prior to UFA. Otherwise, they must send TB 3rd 2023, in which case they will not be allow to re-sign Ashton prior to UFA (but could still try after UFA begins).

I think you also need to decide under which circumstances TB is allowed to trade Ashton's rights after the draft but before the start of UFA.

I'll accept a no trade on Ashton between the draft and free agency

You can do it in game too.
Ashton + Pick X vs Pick Y
Then trade back both picks.

TB has made the decision that Carter Ashton will NOT be re-signed. Therefore, DET gets TB3 2023.
