So ahead of today's games, all 8 playoff teams were set for the west, including two series - San Jose will play Colorado, and Dallas will play Edmonton (the latter is set because of tie breakers).
St. Louis can still tie Detroit for 3rd, but like Dallas they have the tie break over Detroit (too many ties
), while the Kings could pass the Preds for 5th, but today's game won't be enough to lock that up either way.
Over in the east, 6 playoff teams are in, five of whom are locked into their spot, meaning that Pittsburgh will face Montreal in the first round. Ottawa, Tampa, and the Rangers still don't know their opponents, who will include three of New Jersey (who are already in), Buffalo, Toronto, and Carolina. Today's game could be enough for the Leafs to secure a playoff spot, but the final day's games will be needed to sort the order.
Then the games happened, with LA beating Colorado and passing the Preds, while Toronto beat Philly to leapfrog over the Devils and Sabres and clinch a playoff spot - despite Carter George being removed from the lineup, as he's played 67 games.
There were also results that may impact the lottery order, such as Florida's win over NYI, bringing them level with the Flyers for 28th, while the Capitals win over the Ducks brought them into 26th, ahead of the Blue Jackets.
Tomorrow is the regular season finale, all 30 teams facing off with.... well, very little on the line, tbh
I still think it's a fun way to end though!
