The following is the workup for retirement checks for all contracted players, as per Section 12 of the Rulebook. Players highlighted in red will be retiring. I abbreviated the terms for each "section" of the retirement figure, so see the Rulebook for what each value means, if you're curious. REMEMBER: even if your player retires, his salary still counts against the cap for the rest of his contract length if he was signed after the age of 35. Also, any current UFAs in the file marked for retirement are automatically retiring.

There are a lot of decent UFA's aged 33-37 that can still play, haven't vopated and might be signed due to the new rules about contracts.

So do I understand this right? Johnsson is retiring and if so, he will no longer count against my cap? Since he was 34 when he was signed by Montreal.
