Joe Colborne opens and closes the scoring as the Bruins edge the Sharks; Evgeni Malkin scores the tying goal and then puts it away in the shootout in a close one in Joisey; the Islanders fend off a strong start from the Leafs and cruise to a three-goal win; Montreal ties it late, then wins the skills contest over the Wings; Arizona sails past the Preds; Winnipeg blunts the Canes strong start to the season; Philly continues its strong start with a tight win on the road; Dallas claims its first win of the season in a battle of struggling teams; Florida squeaks one out in the Rocky Mountains; and the art of goaltending takes a major step backwards in Calgary, as the Flames outscore the Lightning 7-5.
