The Devils come on top in the 3rd period thanks to Olli Maata's game-winner over Tampa Bay, 5-4, while the Lightning manage to win the two fights of the night. Anaheim doubles up Ottawa on shots and rides a 3-goal second period to a crucial win on the road. Depth beats out top end talent as the Islanders score 4 against the Wings, also thanks to Christopher Gibson's 27 saves on 29 shots. The Jets fall just short of the classic 3rd period comeback, losing 3-2 against the visiting Bruins in a penalty-filled affair. Finally, the Flames double up the Stars on goals in an otherwise even game, led by Sam Gagner and the mythical good game by Rick DiPietro.
