To Montreal Canadiens:
D Eric Brewer [80]
F Samuel Pahlsson [70]
NYR 5th Round 2014
To New York Rangers:
D Matt Smaby [79]
F Ryan Malone [64]
MTL 1st Round 2015
DET 2nd Round 2013
MTL 3rd Round 2014
Confirmed. One thing I did not replace by trading Chara is his leadership. Adding Brewer, who is a big upgrade offensively and defensively over Smaby and brings a ton of leadership to the table. Both Malone & Pahlsson have solid LE but I feel Pahlsson is a better fit on the bottom two lines than Malone is. Also very good at faceoffs. Giving up more picks, but in this league, winning now is more important I feel. Pleasure doing business as always, and good luck Pat.
*Input this deal as follows.*
Tonight (after the sim, or tomorrow):
To Montreal Canadiens: D Eric Brewer, F Samuel Pahlsson
To New York Rangers: D Matt Smaby, MTL 1st 2015, DET 2nd 2013, MTL 3rd 2014
To be processed January 15th:
To Montreal Canadiens: NYR 5th 2014
To New York Rangers: F Ryan Malone

Re: Montreal Canadiens - New York Rangers
Rangers confirm.
Wins over league orphans notwithstanding, we're not going anywhere fast this season. So this is (almost*) a pure futures deal for me. I'm betting this league will stick around for a bit, and this deal will pay off down the line. Good luck, Brad.
* - Smaby is a comfortable fit as a 3rd pair D, and Malone is...well, a serviceable 3rd/4th liner. Plus, now I've cornered the market on EHEC Malones.
PS -- +1 for the tiny font, Brad. And for the headache from trying to read it.

Trade approved and first part entered.
Assuming NYR is able to use all the picks acquired this deal will pay off in the long term for the Rangers. Pahlsson is rated fairly well, but his performances are less than earth shattering. Malone, salary not-withstanding, is a useful return for him. Smaby for Brewer certainly isn't equal value, but NYR does receive the benefit of a potentially 40-50 range DET 2nd.

oh PS sorry about the font, on Firefox it isn't that small at all. I just used IE here at work and it's super tiny.
