Theriau doesn't currently require waivers (though you can waive him if you want) and, as a result, doesn't count against the cap if demoted (at least not until February).

Correct, except that Theriau is still on his ELC this season (right?), and won't count against the cap while in the AHL until his next contract.

We're probably going to say that if a player is not eligible for waivers (23yo or less) than he doesn't count against the pro team's cap,
It's a pain in the ass to get the program calculating salaries to make the difference between a 23yo on his ELC or on a 2nd contract.

True. We had some private discussions regarding this too.
At first we kinda wanted guys on ELC to be the only one exempt, but that's a pain.
I guess I was thrown off a little here.
