The first item of business to address is the latest back-and-forth between GMs that resulted in two threads being closed in the nightly results forum. At this time, with the support of my fellow Committee members, we have decided that the best course of action is to relieve Brad Evans of his duties as the Montreal Canadiens GM. While there are certainly things that we do not condone and do not want in our league from other GMs, the common thread in most arguments has been Brad. Whether it is an argument with another GM, an argument about league policies, or blatant disregard of rules and regulations, specifically the salary cap for nearly all of last season, there has been no personal accountability on Brad's part. Just shots at the Committee, either blaming us or belittling us for something that we do voluntarily. He has also harassed other GMs about trades, decisions, or has made snide and hurtful remarks about their performance in the league.

As a group, we thank Brad for his contributions, time, and effort to the league, but we feel that it is in the league's best interest to part ways. Like I expressed already, Brad has been the common theme in most of the message board flame wars and the other parties have no issues with other GMs or the league office. We welcome constructive criticism, but we will not sit idly by and be dragged through the mud as part of an attention-seeking agenda. Overall, the morale of the league and the interactions of the GMs should improve with this change.

It's hard to remove a tenured GM that has been with us since the beginning, but I want to make it extremely clear that we are not choosing sides in the recent argument. It's no secret that Brad and I have butted heads for a long time and this may appear like a premeditated plan to remove him from the league, but that's not the case. After consulting with Pat and Tim over a couple of days, all of what we discussed regarding the message boards came back to one perpetrator. We felt it best to move forward without Brad.

There will be no benefit in allowing Brad to respond to this post in any way and I fully expect to be contacted in some roundabout way regarding his dismissal from the league, but his posting permissions will be removed immediately after this post goes live and his account will be terminated shortly thereafter. That may seem like a cowardly way out on my part, but a public response will hold no value to the league and thus should be avoided.

Fellow league members, you do not have to agree with, condone, or understand this decision, but I do ask that you respect it because our motives are with the league's future in mind. I would prefer that any opinions, dissenting or otherwise, are shared with the Committee privately. I will lock this post to prevent any negative discourse from appearing on the forums to potentially create other problems.

Outside of that item of business, discussions have begun regarding the Rulebook and potential changes, as well as updates to the financial policy. That will take place in another thread, but since eyes will be on this, I wanted to let the GMs know that we are being proactive behind the scenes and attempting to fix the problems that have hindered the league.

I thank you for your patience and hope that we are able to navigate through these choppy waters to have a more successful season for the 2014-15 campaign.
