Free Agent Frenzy
In case you missed it, our annual Free Agent Frenzy will kick off at 8 AM Monday morning. I'm going to work on the file later today, so get those contract offers in now. If you're delayed for whatever reason, PM me asap.
At around noon today, I'm going to grab the latest players file and start working on it. So don't do anything with your roster or players from noon until the late afternoon today, as it will be lost when I re-upload the updated game file. I'll be checking the boards, so if there are any late contract offers or releases or buyouts or trades or whatever, hopefully I'll get them all.

Re: Free Agent Frenzy
Have updated the league file to just before the rollover. Take a sec if you can tonight to review your team, make sure I've signed guys you want to keep; prospects are less important, as you can sign them any time; more worried about not having a guy you want go ufa by mistake. We've got one more team that needs to get guys signed, then I'll advance the file and post a new one with all the free agents in it, getting ready for Monday.
League file here: http://www.ehechockey.com/ehec.zip
Also, we'll have to make a list of RFA for anyone who wants to bid on them after the rollover. And remember to GMs who have qualified players: if no one makes an offer for them by 9/15, they're yours, they don't go UFA.
And we're going to enforce the 50-contract limit all through the off-season. You can exceed the salary cap during the off-season, however.

Is there supposed to be only one team who's offers are not in the file? I see more than that.

Despite this, figured I'd take a look. These be the teams currently over 70M (some could just be because of ELCs not yet demoted and such so don't read too much into all of 'em)...Commish Bub(NYR) wrote:You can exceed the salary cap during the off-season, however.
Chicago = 108,005,296 (!!!)
New Jersey = 82,428,751
Vancouver = 78,895,000
St. Louis = 75,542,502
Edmonton = 75,008,750
Columbus = 74,805,000
Colorado = 74,797,500
Nashville = 73,889,438
Washington = 73,387,500
Toronto = 71,554,000
San Jose = 70,836,000
Looking at only waiver eligible players making over $1M (plus a backup goalie), Chicago's at ~99.5M. I'll be curious if there's enough cap room after free agency from the rest of the teams combined to dig them out of that hole.

In a rush this morning, so for the free agent offers that have been posted as of this writing, only one bid has been offered. Sorry, don't have the time at the moment to send "bid received" messages, but wanted to let the bidders know where they stood right now.

That is kind of the point, you have to work to get bargains, draft well and not just hope to keep collecting players in their prime. Our job is already made easier by players developing quickly and predictably and staying in their primes for literally 15 years much of the time.VancouverCanucksGM wrote:It seems to get tougher to keep a team together, when the salaries grow faster than the cap does.

Re: Free Agent Frenzy
Guys, remember max term length for contract is dependent on the annual salary, as so:
2. UFA bids must contain the annual salary and contract length being offered. Term is determined via the following brackets:
...offers from 700K to 1M = 1-2 years
...offers over 1M to 3M = 1-3 years
...offers over 3M to 5M = 1-5 years
...offers over 5M = 1=7 years

...offers over 1M to 3M = 1-3 years

The should be UFA are indeed UFA by the rules, so I don't see any reason why they shoudn't be bid on now.
Also if you want you can see them in-game by switching to Boston (thanks to Jason's scouting obsession) and search for players with 0 year-length contracts.

What I mean is that Iginlas didn't get the Max salary, and Vik has been the only one to offer the Max salary to Zetty, which is... weird since I was pretty sure 4-5 teams have pretty low total payroll.Commish Bub(NYR) wrote:And there were more bids received than you saw on the boards. With the two releases and the Alex Theriau signing, Nashville's at 51 contracts.
Mentioned these elsewhere but wanted to make sure they weren't just overlooked...
Zbynek Michalek was signed for less than the minimum required bid (1.625M * 2/3 = 1,083,333 but was signed for 1.075M).
Petr Zamorsky got moved to completed contracts though it doesn't appear that he's been signed quite yet.
