To recap, STL beat LA and DAL beat EDM 4-1, leaving only DET's 3-2 lead over NAS to be resolved in the West. Now for tonight's results in the East:
The Sens get off to a slow start - Connor McDavid opens the scoring early in the second, but Kessel and Pacioretty reply for the Sabres. Unfortunately, the 3rd period is virtually all OTT as BUF gives up 6 goals on 13 shots, including 2/3 of a hatty from McDavid and 1G+3A for Hodgson. No pull for Steve Mason and the Sabres' first trip to the playoffs in a decade is over, while the Sens go ahead to face TBD.
In TB, the Bolts give up a moderately early lead but recover twice, leaving the game tied 2-2 for most of the third. Ondrej Kase gives the Leafs their third and final lead at 43:52 and then 1st star The Nuge (2G+1A, +4) ices it with an ENG in the final minute. TB held the balance of play but TOR's second line managed to break through MDZ/Fowler/Price. TOR up 3-2.
Over in Manhattan, the Rangers thoroughly demolished the Devils, holding NJ to just 2 shots in the 1st period. Oettinger gets a shutout but EHM rewards hat trick-scoring Zach L'Heureux with the 1st star. NYR lead 3-2, despite previous tooth-gnashing and wailing.
Lastly, in steeltown south, the Penguins looked poised to eliminate the Habs. After a fairly even first period, Svechnikov and Buium score 70 seconds apart early in the 2nd and the score remains 3-1 going into the third. However, Rodion Amirov leads the charge as the Habs score 4 goals on 6 shots in an epic comeback, with Sam Gagner's GWG coming at 57:43. Also there were lots of post-whistle scrums. PIT still leads 3-2.

That McDavid guy is pretty ok. Calling this year a success regardless. GG Marty
