Well, gentlemen, the third regular season of EHEC is in the books. San Jose takes care of business on home ice to win the President's Trophy and the Pacific Division title. The Flyers and Sabres both lose so Thursday night's shootout win for the Flyers is the deciding factor as they will meet the Penguins in the first round. The Capitals are forced into a late goaltending change as Simeon Varlamov's 67 games played thrust Jose Theodore into the starting spot and the Caps lose to the Rangers. The Jets secure a point against the Lightning but lose in a shootout. My Jackets, resting Nash, Backes, Moore, Niedermayer, and Mason hang a big number on the Islanders. The Preds and Blues both lose so the bottom of the West standings is set as the Jackets will play the Preds and the Sharks will meet the Blues. Michael Frolik and Patrick Kane tie for the scoring title. Phoenix loses to the Wild and loses home ice in the first round in the process.

As for the AHL, the Charlotte Checkers sneak into the playoffs with a win and a Rockford loss. St. John's secures a point to beat out Norfolk, Rochester, and Binghamton for the final spot in the East.

I just realized that the Oilers and Canucks are both one game short in the standings and that no AHL game result was generated. Looks like I might have to take care of that by scheduling a game for tomorrow. It was played tonight, no idea why it didn't register. If someone can check with yesterday's file and see if they were both at 81 games, I'd appreciate it. No clue what happened there.

I'll just manually enter in the VAN/EDM result in league.ehm or whatever the hell keeps the standings. I'm not worried about guys point totals and all of that. I will double check on any E5 eligible players, though, just in case the results from game 82 pushed them over a bonus.

The AHL game had no bearing on the AHL standings. Oklahoma City had already won the 3 seed in the West due to Milwaukee's loss.

FUCK YES.

Top team in the league and the top farm team in the league... in the regular season. I'm going to enjoy watching LA/PHX devour each other in the first round as I coast to an easy win against an orphaned team and collect pick #16. Did I say coast to an easy win? What? You think just because I lost to the #8 seed orphaned team last year it could happen again? You think you're a joker? Besides, I didn't strictly lose to an orphaned team last year, Garrick came back in time to reply to my trash talking his inactivity, although I don't think he ever changed his lines.

Yes, I am nervous about simulated hockey. Suck it.

PS it's pretty messed up that a 112 point team doesn't get home ice advantage in the first round. Almost as messed up as Florida winning the Southeast in the NHL.

I think if you add a result in schedule.ehm that should work, no? Maybe? Was the game missing from there? Or maybe an earlier EDM/VAN game was missing and nobody noticed?

Bub PMed me a couple weeks ago that there was a duplicate VAN/EDM game on April 7. So I removed one of them. Tommy texted me and said that both teams were at 81 games as of the April 6 file, so, for whatever reason, I must have removed the wrong game? I can't remember if I removed the first one listed or the second one.

When I opened schedule.ehm, the score was there, but it had a 0 in the final column, indicating that the game had not been played. I edited it to say that the game had been played, but when I re-opened EHM, it still didn't show up in the standings.

Funny thing is, I remember testing the schedule over the summer and everybody played 82 games. 41 home, 41 away. So I have no idea how a duplicate game could have gotten in there, nor do I know why it didn't count it.

It'll just be another of the things I have to do leading up to the playoffs. Making the AHL file is annoying.

I guess that winning game 82, building momentum and maintaining that positive vibe around the hockey club is what you want to accomplish even though you're playoff matchup is already known.

A pretty good year for the Flames is in the books. Can't wait for playoff hockey to start again. I loved it here at EHEC as a rookie GM.
Thanks to all.

Happy to win the last game of our season. Disappointing season on the whole though, long term injuries to Fowler and then Kovalchuk certainly didn't help. Hopefully next season we can give the playoffs a shake. The addition of another offensive SUPERSTAR, will surely help. However the loss of a defensive star and an already weak defensive unit. Means we will be heading into the offensive gameplan full on next season.

Good luck in the playoffs. Unless we face each other, of course.
