Boston returns to the left-hand column with an overtime winner from Brad Richards. My Jets thought the pesky Islanders would lay down and die after falling behind 3-0. Unfortunately, they did not. John Gibson keeps Florida in the game as the Caps dominate the shot totals.

Buffalo continues their strong play, while Julien will be very pleased with two points after departing IGLOO II. The Senators hang with Carolina as Elliott and Ward match save for save. Phoenix at home. I think we're going to need a safe word shortly.

I love how all of Chris Higgins's goals are either empty-netters or game-winners.

He probably figured his only shot at the record books was empty net goals. He's got a ways to go though, I think Gretz scored like 50 empty-netters in his career.

Why does that guy's name keep coming up in connection to empty-net goals?

EDIT:
Wikipedia wrote:Stefan earned significant notoriety when he missed and fell on a breakaway towards an empty net against the Edmonton Oilers on January 4, 2007, which allowed a play to develop where fellow Czech Ales Hemsky scored with two seconds remaining to send the game to overtime.
Oh. Now I get it.
