BREAKING NEWS: EHEC LEADERSHIP CHANGE FORTHCOMING

Post by Virtual Jarmo »

CHANGE AT LEAGUE OFFICE OF EASTSIDE'S HOCKEY ELITE COLLIDE?
REPORTED CHANGE TO TAKE EFFECT ASAP

Breaking news out of the Eastside Hockey Elite Collide headquarters in Cleveland, OH this afternoon as the Cleveland Post-Gazette has learned that a major announcement will be made regarding the future of one of the league's top officials. A source close to the has informed the CPG that Commissioner Adam Burke will be putting out a press release later this evening or early tomorrow morning announcing changes to the league's governing board.

The source indicated that Burke has kept the information under wraps thus far, so anything we pass along at the CPG is nothing more than speculation. Burke has reportedly been concerned with fellow league Committee member Tom Kennish over the last few months, so it is expected to involve him in some way.

We'll stay tuned to this developing story and update this post as any new information becomes available.

For the Cleveland Post-Gazette, I'm Phil Atio.

Cleveland Post-Gazette's Phil Atio here with another update: It seems that things are nearing completion at the EHEC headquarters in Cleveland. An identified man just got into a black sedan with tinted windows reportedly en route to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. No word on who it may have been, however we have confirmation that Commissioner Adam Burke will be speaking at a 12 p.m. ET press conference tomorrow, with a press release issued to the media some time prior to that. The notice to the media did say that Burke will be taking questions, both on the changes to EHEC and the plans for the offseason.

One thing that we have confirmed is that Committee member Tom Kennish will no be have an administrative role in EHEC. He will serve as a consultant to the Commissioner's office on financial affairs, but he will no longer have any day-to-day responsibilities. We have not heard if he will be continuing as the Commissioner of the Winnipeg Jets, but we expect that question to be answered at tomorrow's press conference.

Stay tuned to this breaking story for more updates. I'm Phil Atio.

Phil Atio here with the latest for the Cleveland Post-Gazette...

After several attempts to reach out to Tom Kennish regarding his role in EHEC, he finally answered via text message. Kennish said, "The decision was mutual and I will defer all other questions to Adam at tomorrow's presser." Kennish has drawn the ire of some league GMs for late sims and had been growing apart from the league over the last few weeks. When pressed further, Kennish gave no answer. A league representative who spoke off the record told me that Burke and Kennish agreed that a change was in the best interest of the league and that Burke repeatedly thanked Kennish for his contributions to the league. It would seem that Kennish will stay in the league and focus on his general managing duties.

The same league source emphatically shot down the rumor that Burke was stepping down as Commissioner of EHEC. "The news is good," the source said poignantly while climbing into a Bentley with new tags, a sign that things in EHEC are going well. "Very good, in fact," he continued, firing up the engine.

Now we wait to see what the league has to say tomorrow morning. From what we have seen and heard, someone within the league will be sliding into Kennish's old position and it would appear that the league will be appointing somebody well respected to attempt to restrengthen the league's governing body and increase the confidence of the league's 27 other GMs.

The big secret has been announced via an early morning press release. Pat "Bub" Webber, the current General Manager of the New York Rangers, will be serving as the Deputy Commissioner under Adam Burke in a move that seemingly strengthens the governing body of EHEC and provides Burke with a well-respected and reliable confidant. It would seem that Webber was the choice all along, though it's rumored that Burke did look outside of the organization to find the replacement for Tom Kennish. Kennish's future has not yet been determined, but it is expected that he will continue to be in charge of the league's Winnipeg Jets as possible realignment looms.

Webber, the elder statesman of the league, has a strong reputation and has tremendous people skills, something that the league needs as it enters its fifth season and had several ups and downs over the past nine months.

We'll wait to find out more during this afternoon's press conference, but this is certainly big news and something that will be received well by the league's general managers.

Thank god, that one line absolved about 20 of us of any further responsibilities.

Well played, Dan. Here, have some cash.

Thanks for the props, Adam. I'm looking forward to a fantastical recovery season for the Rangers, and many many mysterious packages containing small, unmarked bills. You're all welcome.

The head office is in Cleveland? I think we should move or put up an expansion club there

I saw the Cleveland Barons play at the old Montreal Forum.
