Bruins Adjust Lines

Post by Bruins »

After a 3-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes GM Michael Leib made a few changed in the lineup.

The line scramble up is a bit surprising considering the Bruins were 8-0-1-1 in their last 10 before the loss. Leib dismissed the record, citing lack of shots on goal. "The team is young, we have a lot of playmakers who are still developing their finishing skills. We have half of the regular season left, I'm confident the team will continue to grow."

Among the major changes is to the powerplay, which ranks 3rd in the league, it will feature 3 players under 23 years old on the #1 unit. Patrice Bergeron, who holds the EHEC record for consecutive games with a point will be moved to the #2 unit which Leib says is plainly a matter of trying to get everyone PP time and getting guys who play well with each other on the same lines "We have 5 defensmen and 7 forwards who could garner 1st line PP minutes for many teams in the league, and that doesn't include Selke canidate Mike Fisher or future Hall-of-Famers' Brendan Shanahan and Mark Recchi. This is the time for the young guys to show me what they have."

In other Bruins news, centre Brad Marchand was sent down to the AHL today. Forward Jordan Caron is expected make his NHL debut by replacing Marchand on the 4th line.
