Congrats to the Blue Jackets for pulling out an eighth place finish in the East despite the best efforts of their driven-to-drink GM. Sorry to the Maple Leafs and Senators, despite some very game efforts down the stretch.

Plus: San Jose misses a chance to salt away first in the West; Anaheim can still move into sixth with a win tomorrow night, or they could end up eighth if they lose and the Blues win; Boston's loss means we could see a Montreal-Boston first round match up. Good stuff for tomorrow night.

Guess my guys knew that they needed a huge third period. I guess I can take solace in that, but to be honest, I was really hoping to see Walters get in there. If nothing else, just to reward his loyalty to the league. And in a selfish sense, I'd rather he be the team embarrassed in the first round by Pittsburgh ;)

I'll take a look at the AHL playoffs tomorrow and then teach Pat how to make the file.

I think I'm gonna be sick that day. And the next. :P

Tonight's loss is pretty meaningless for us, and against one of the top teams in the league, but man what a microcosm of the entire season: sputtering offense and putrid special teams. We gave up 88 power play goals this year. By my quick calculations, even if we equaled the mean PK pct in the league, we'd have given up 16 fewer PP goals. (We also scored just 50 power play goals, so there's a nice tidy -38 differential right off the bat.)

I'd say the number one priority this off-season would be to correct the PK, but given the screwy way EHM works, I could probably run the same PK units next year and end up killing off 80+ percent.

Congrats to Adam, tough luck Walters, and nice run Brett. For those of us on the outside looking in, at least there's the NHL draft lottery on Tuesday.

I can't speak for sure about this time, but last year we just went with the NHL result.

Same thing.

Vancouver has the 1st pick. NYI the 2nd pick. Everybody else stays the same.

Didn't NYI have less points than Van.....or because the team in 2nd last won the lottery in real life it means the 2nd last team wins here? Kinda odd wouldn't you say.

Isn't this the third straight season we've let the real NHL Draft Lottery represent us?

It's pretty strange that the 2nd most probable outcome happened. Why not the 1st or 3rd? It's like the whole thing was a lottery.

Don't have a clue, have never paid attention to the draft as I don't pick in the 1st round.

Just seems kinda silly to have the NHL determine our draft order, but I don't really care as it never impacts me at all.

Why is that silly? It's the exact same thing I would do and it's significantly easier to let the NHL do it with the probabilities that they use.

Agree. We are attempting to replicate the NHL as close as possible.

Well its Florida winning there and then Vancouver winning here....I dunno like I said just seemed odd but doesn't matter to me at all.
