Draft Review:

1st round, 15 overal
Name: Hunter Shinkaruk
Position: C/RW
Scouting Report: Hunter is the kind of player who can scores a lot of goals. He got an outstanding shot. Last year he scored 49 goals in 66 games with medicine hat. He can play both side of the ice and is a really good skater. He is not a winning faceoff guy, so he will probably play on Right wing during his career. He is small and don't get in physical play but he is not the kind of player who is often injured. He is not ready to play NHL this year, probably it will take 2 season in AHL before seeing him in the big league. He will be a top 2 line players.

2nd round, 45 overall
Name: Oliver Bjorkstand
Position: RW/LW
Scouting report: Oliver is a geat Two way forward. He is always well positioning. He got some offensive skills that make him really polyvalent. He is a really fast skater and got an outstanding endurance. He is not the kind of player who will get into the traffic. Last year in danemark, he get 26 points(13g,13a) in 36 points. He gets a good constancy so he can give great minutes of play in each game. He could be a 2nd or 3rd line player in the future. We should see him on the big club in 3 years.

3rd round, 75 overall
Name: Marc-Olivier Roy
Position: C/LW
Scouting Report: Roy is another small guy who don’t get into traffic. He got an excellent stickhandling ability whit a decent shot. He can win big faceoff. He is not the kind of player you can put on Shorthanded because he don’t really know what is defense. He could be a good offensive center on PP but will probably play on 4th line in the big league, won’t see him in the nearly future.

3rd round, 81 overal
Name: JT Compher
Postion: C/RW
Scouting Report: JT is a good two way forward who can play both offense and defense. He is not the biggest forward in the game bit he got a great heart. He got really good checking an positioning. He is decent in almost all attributes so he will be really polyvalent. We should see him maybe in 2 years because he got already the strength it takes to play the big league. Just need to work in AHL.

6th and 7th round: Two auto-pick player, we won’t see them in the big League.

GM comments on the draft: As everybody can see, we wanted to add some depth on attack in our prospect bank. Last year, we saw that it was really hard to trade with other teams because we didn’t have players to offer. It makes really difficult to me to make a team more competitive on the ice. Next year we will probably make the same moves in the draft but with defenseman. I really like the way my scout had pick this year, we are getting two offensives players and 2 two way forwards. It will really help our 3rd and 4th line in the future as we don’t have a lot of players in our team. I hope that Zetts will be in our team when Shinkaruk and Terevainen will play on 1st line, it will be a really exiting line for fans.

Some changes happened in Anaheim

This week was a big week for Ducks general manager, Jonathan Tremblay. First, he traded the winger Alexander Burnmistrov to Calgary in exchange of Nikolai Zherdev, Mason Geersten and 1st pick TB 2014. Second, he traded an other winger, Jakub Voracek to Tampa Bay for Zach Budish, Akim Aliu, 2nd pick TB 2014 and 3rd pick 2014 CBS. Here were his explainations about this reorganization:

''We were trying hard to get a competitive club on a regular basics with the players we had but this does not happened, so i've decided to revemp this organisation. I try to fil a gap in this team: Physical player. First, i solidifed the defense by acquiring Mason Geersten. He will be the punisher on our blue line when he will be ready to play NHL. He can hit, fight and already has a great leadership. He will be a star on our blue line. Second, we got big winger in Zach Budish, who already scored 25 goals last year with Tampa Bay. We don't think he will hit the same amount of goals with us, but we expect him to make the hits for his teammates to get the puck first. He will be an important part of our top six fowards. We also acquired big center, Akim Aliu. In his case, we just hope he can develop to his potentiel and if he does, he will be a great 3rd line center. Finally, we got Zherdev who can play goods minutes on different role and a lot of draft picks to select new talents. We are pleased with our new structure.''

At the end of the interview, he said that it's possible that he make an other move or two before the deadline, but it's not sure depending of what the club will do on the next few weeks.

Draft Review:

1st round, 27th overall
Name: Alex Peters
Position: D
Scouting report: Alex is a big 6'4'' tall defensive d-man. His defensive play is comparable to Marc Staal. He his not the kind of guy who will put a lot of point in a season but will be a top guy on defensive situation. Even if he is only 18, we saw in him a lot of maturity and a lot of leadership, what the Ducks need in the nearly future. He will probably play for a spot in AHL next year, and maybe we could see him in the 2015-2016 if his developpement goes well. He is projected to be a top 4 d-man on our team.

1st round, 28th overall
Name: Vladislav Kamenev
Position: C/LW
Scouting report:Vlad is a power foward the Ducks love. He can bring some points with his offensive abillity and can gets some hits when time comes to do so. He can play center and this is an aspect the Ducks look when was time to selects him. The fact that he is Russian does not affraid us because Vlad already told us he will play AHL next year. Like Peters, we will saw him in 2015-2016 season. He is projected to be a top 9 fowards.

2nd round, 52nd overall
Name: Arvid Lundberg
Position: D
Scouting report: Arvid is a two way d-man. Ducks were looking for that. He his really good in defensive aspect of his game and can throw a great 1st pass. He also has the ability to play either power play or shorthanded. Arvid can also put some hits, but this is not a big aspect of his game. We think he could maybe hits NHL this year at the end of season if everything goes well for him. We saw him as a future top 4 d-man.

3rd round, 82nd overall
Name: Artur Lauta
Position: RW
Scouting report: Artur has the skills to be part of a NHL team. His stickhandling ability is outstanding. He got also a good checking skill, and will have a decent hit. His teammates tell us that he was a good leader even if he is only 17. His low consistency is the only point we don't like in him, but we think he will be a useful player. We project him to be a top 9 winger. We won't see him soon.

3rd round, 87th overall
Name: Travis Sanheim
Position: D
Scouting report: Travis is a defensive d-man. He got a decent shot and a good checking ability. Sanheim can also give some great bodycheck. We saw him as a 3rd paring d-man in the future, we won't see him soon.

5th round, 146th overall
Name: Joel Kiviranta
Position: LW/RW
Scouting report: Joel is a small power foward, but he can give some hits. He is not affraid when there's trafic. He got some defensive skills that will probabably give him a chance to take an nhl spot on a 3rd or 4th line. He will have to work on his consistency in junior next year. Won't see him in the nearly future.

6th round, 177th overall
Name: Karson Kuhlman
Position: C/RW
Scouting report: Karson has a good faceoof ability and can play really well defensively. Won't hit a lot but is able to respond. Will probably play on a 4th line in NHL. Won't see him in the early future.

7th round, 207th overall
Name: Denis "Dog" Orlovich-Grudkov
Position: LW/RW
Scouting report: Denis will play AHL, not a lot to tell about him.

GM comments on the draft: I'm really happy with this draft. This was'nt a deep draft, but i think our scouting team did a great job. We put a lot of character young player in our prospect pool a mix of foward and d-man as we were looking for. Now that the draft is over, it's time to reevaluate each player and saw what we do with them. On 1st look, there will probably have some changes to come...
