However, I think it would be beneficial if the features of the website were detailed somewhere. I think back to my issues with the extension calculator. I had no idea what two of the attributes were, though I had a general idea. I didn't realize full attributes were already on the site via the roster page that I didn't realize existed in the exact order I needed. I think a little clarity of features could help new people though I freely admit that clarifying will only really help them so this may be pointless.
I don't know how you could've missed your roster page in the first place?
Have you explored the whole website? The rulebook?
I guess you must know about GMO by now.

There is a lot to explore, Julien.

Josh, feel free to PM or post about any questions you might have EHEC related. A lot of it is just experience and getting to know how things work. A GM Office instructional pdf is a good idea, but I'm not sure who would be up for writing it.

Something like: http://ehm.fhockey.com/tabbytab.htm but for the website.

I know there's a lot to learn but it's the first time I've heard of this. Therefor I don't see any use for some kind of tutorial.
We usually answer questions pretty quickly. I'm pretty sure that Josh, who's familiar with EHM already, will find it's way around by himself or by asking.
Again guys, if there's anything you don't understand, feel free to ask.

I'm an Algebra teacher so I definitely understand the merits of doing things on your own. My mindset is generally to figure things out on my own. I know EHM well so the idea of going to a roster page never crossed my mind.

The main issue here is the extension calculator. I think a brief explanation in the Rulebook with something akin to "go to the roster page (link) and copy/paste the ratings into the calculator (link) to determine extension values" would save you some time or just labeling the ratings on the calculator because IIRC they aren't labeled.

Then again, I'm fully in the mindset of high schoolers who can't remember how to wipe their own asses so you probably (I imagine) don't have a huge retention issue when it comes to remembering where to go thus making my entire two posts null, void, and pointless.

Such is life for the Oilers.

I agree. If it hadn't been mentioned to me that you could just copy and paste from the roster page, I probably would've been entering them manually.

Couple questions about pro-rated salaries.

If someone was to trade an AHLer and the acquiring team decided to use this AHLer on their pro team, does half their salary count against the former team? For example, if I traded Justin Kirkland (not likely) at the 50/50 mark and the acquiring team stuck him on their pro team, would I be on the hook for $500k even though he hasn't spent any time in the big leagues with me?

Also, UFA signings aren't pro-rated but what about releases? If I bought out Ryan Suter (it should be voided due to temporary insanity) once we hit the 50/50 mark, am I on the hook for the normal $5.25M or would it be $3.5M for the first half of the season + $2.625M (3.5*.75) for the second half = $6.125M?

Tampa Bay GM wrote:I used the contract calculator to check out what Fowler and Seguin will cost in two years and it spit out $13 million each. If that's what it is, I won't complain. However, I'm sure some teams will be in a similar situation. I can't seem to find the chart in the rulebook that has the tier/raise % information.

I think we are using the same tiers since the formula was introduced; the formula was the result of unrealistic in-game salaries (see Patrick Kane). Introducing an elite tier or re-evaluating the percentages would be ways to avoid somewhat unrealistic contracts.
We're not supposed to discuss suggested changes in this thread.

Though, by the way, some of the rows in the calculator spit out different numbers. Any way to fix that?

As far as I'm aware, releases have never been pro-rated.

Noticed there's no mention of waivers with pro-rated salaries either (Justin asked in the linked thread but it wasn't answered). I'd assumed they qualify as well but would be good to know for sure.

Waivers are not pro-rated.
