Flyers draft review

Post by flyergp21 »

The Flyers had a league-high 5 first round picks in the 2015 entry draft. It's rebuilding time in Philly and these draftees are going to be the face of the franchise for years to come. Here they are:

4th overall, D Noah Hanifin

Hanifin projects to be a top pairing D-man in EHEC, as he brings speed and mobility to the Flyers defensive corps. He should be in the lineup come opening night. He will be given every opportunity to develop on a young but promising team.

7th overall, LW Lawson Crouse

This big and strong winger fills a need on the Flyers roster. He truly is the definition of a power forward, as he will be a physical force, as well as a legit scoring threat. Like Hanifin, Crouse has a very good chance of being in the lineup as soon as october.

14th overall, C Kyle Connor

In post-draft analysis, teams often say they were surprised to see a certain player still available at their spot, and it's a cliche most of the time. But in Connor's case, it is not. He could've and probably should've gone in the first 10. He will become a very good 2 way center. He still has a long way to go, and he could see some AHL time before getting called up to the Big league.

23rd overall, D Jakub Zboril

Zboril projects to be a top pairing defenceman, as he could be a shut down D with great hitting ability. His offence will never be great, but he could still see some PP time down the road. It is too early to tell if he has a shot at playing in the NHL right away.

30th overall, C Adam Musil

With the last pick of the first round, the Flyers opted to go with center Adam Musil. If things go like planned, this guy should be the team's next checking center. His defensive ability will put him right up there with the best of them. The question is, will his offense be good enough for a top 6 role?
