Maple Leafs Draft Review 2015
Mitchell "Mitch" Marner
Center/Right Wing
5'11
161 lbs
1997-05-05
I was surprised to find Marner still available at the 10th position, and was pretty excited to bring in a Ontario born player into the organizatioon. Mitchell Marner may not be a physically imposing player but his heart and raw offensive talent will flourish in a Maple Leaf jersey. He will spend time with the Marlies , and maybe make a push for the Leafs lineup in 2016.
Robin Kovacs
Left/Right Wing
6'0
172 lbs
1996-11-16
A consistent two way player with a willingness to get a little dirty. Kovacs will hopefully develop into a valuable member of the bottom two lines. Will spend time on the Marlies, and could make a push for Leafs line up this season.
Joel Eriksson Ek
Center/Left Wing
6'2
183 lbs
1997-01-29
Another product of Sweden, Ek will bring a solid consistent game much like Kovacs but with a little more "oomph". Defensively responsible and offensively creative, Joel Eriksson Ek will develop nicely into a checking role on the Leafs roster. Will first spend time with the Marlies and hopefully battle for a spot on the bottom lines in 2016.
Samuel Dove-McFalls
Center
6'2
207 lbs
1997-04-10
Projected as a "developmental" prosect, Samuel Dove-McFalls possesses good size and will continue to develop his game at the junior level.
Austin Strand
Defense
6'2
159 lbs
1997-02-17
The lanky blueliner from Alberta, is a long shot at making the Maple Leafs but he should be able to develop into a decent minor league player. Will finish out his junior career and make his pro hockey debut in a couple years.
