WHAT THE HELL DOES THIS MEAN:

TODAY: Your team's current cap hit as of the last save file. If you play a game without changing the roster, this is what your cap will count as. Note if you are over the roster limit (23 players) this will go down, and if you are under the minimum (22), I will do something TBD (probably the current league minimum for each player below the limit if I'm nice, or your most expensive AHLer if I'm not).

TODATE: Your team's average cap hit over the past season. This is the average of the TODAY numbers on every game day up till now. The lower this is, the more room you'll have at the deadline.

PROJECTED: TODATE * GP + TODAY *(82 - GP). This is what your team's average cap hit will be at the end of the season if your roster stays unchanged. This number is the important one and MUST always stay under $70M. If you go over this at any time, we will apply some TBD penalty, which will almost certainly include less cap room for trades. If you fuck up and manage to be over the cap at the end of the season like some NHL GMs do, you will get a penalty for the next season.

LTIR: Cap cushion for long term injuries. LTIR is not just subtracted from your cap hit; it allows you to go over the cap temporarily. However, for convenience, any teams that are over the cap due to LTIR will have their TODAY number rounded down to 70M. Make sure you are prepared to get back under the cap when the player comes off LTIR.

Penalties: These just get added to your cap hit. One lucky team (FLA) still has a negative penalty from Anton Babchuk being claimed off re-entry waivers, but this will thankfully never happen again.
