Detroit Red Wings / L.A. Kings

Post by Kings GM »

to Detroit : Vesa Toskala (67) + John Erskine (84)

to L.A. Kings : Brendan Smith (73) + Landon Ferraro (84)

Reasonnig : With now Cory Schneider and Jonathan Quick in the net for long time, there's no place anymore for Toskala. Erskine has almost not play last year and with Hickey and Teubert progression, no place for him next year. So to get 2 young prospect that's great for me, since have trade my 1st pick in next year draft and i've a lacks of good prospect.

I agree....I get rid of two good prospects but both still need to develop. I have a strong draft class coming in so I can let go of a couple of prospects. I full a huge hole on my team....Starting goalie. Toskala is 32 but only makes 2 million and he totally fits the bill.

This trade is rejected by majority Committee vote.

Rather than send a drawn out PM, here's the reasoning. We feel that, while LA has other assets to use over Toskala and Erskine, the value simply isn't there. Smith is a decent PP QB, and has a high PO ceiling, but his CH and HI ceilings are on the low end. Either way, the real wrench is this deal is Ferraro. At 5'11", with very little room to improve in SH and PL, he really has no value. He will never make it to be a regular contributor. Good intangible ceilings, but the game really screwed him offensively, and his height and low PO ceiling make him a non-factor defensively.

Despite the $3M LA saves and the fact that Toskala and Erskine are really spare parts to LA, Toskala is still a capable starting goaltender in the league. Erskine is a solid depth pairing guy. Smith is a serviceable piece, but Ferraro's complete and utter lack of worth isn't enough for a starting goaltender and a high CON depth guy.

This trade can be reconfigured with the same core one more time, per the Rulebook.

Also, Bernier, keep your thoughts to yourself on trades or PM them to a Committee member.
