2019 Preseason

Post by SharksGM »

I have updated the file, including entering all pending trades and free agent contracts. I also invited everybody's prospects to camp, so you don't have to ask. I noticed not all of the in-game statuses actually changed to 'invited to camp' - I think older/overseas unsigned players are still listed as playing overseas - but at any rate if they don't go back automatically the end of preseason, I'll send them back myself. They're all 100k 1y contracts.

Retired players have all had their retiring flags reset, even unsigned ones. We'll determine retirements at the end of the season as per the new simplified system.

I changed Slava Demin and Nils Lundkvist to defensemen as they should have been. Since they are marginal prospects, hopefully nobody cares that I did it well after the draft. If you see any other players in the file that have obviously wrong info, I'll look at correcting them too.

Tomorrow is September 1st, which means as per free agency rules, "offer sheets must be at least a 20% increase on the player's currently listed salary". This means you can offer any remaining qualified RFAs anything better than 1Y, 20% increase contract. Offer sheets must follow the standard contract regulations and, if not matched by the owning team, are subject to draft pick compensation. If you do not own the appropriate picks for the required compensation, your bid will be ruled invalid.

I take it in the Detroit contract offers thread Emil Johansson was meant to be Evan Fitzpatrick (Johansson's UFA, Fitzpatrick was re-signed but it was posted the other way around).

For contracts...
Errors:
Aleksi Mustonen = 2 years
Chris Wilkie = 2 years
Derek Roy = 650k
Greg Nemisz = 620k
Gustav Olofsson = 650k
Jake Gardiner = 620k
Jarret Stoll = 800k
Kevin Shattenkirk = 1 year

Not entered:
Alexis Vanier (DET) = 600k, 1 year
Daniel Bernhardt (DET) = 600k, 1 year
Dany Heatley (LA) = 900k, 1 year

And I'm pretty sure Martin posted in the waiver thread to fast-sign the following:
Eetu Makiniemi
Michael Fora
Michael Amadio

Though I'm not seeing the post now.

Oh well, they can keep 'em both.

Vanier and Bernhardt are in Grand Rapids.

But after days of not answering to it by any means I thought that it's going to get ignored so I decided to sign other players and opted to void it. Now I have full House of contracts. I don't need / want them after I filled my team out in free agency.

Seems to amount to the same thing as withdrawing a bid on a free agent, no?

I don't know. What can I do now ?
But I will sign them if it's necessary / if I have to.
But I would prefer not to.

Yes. If I miss entering something or make a mistake in the hundreds of transactions I've entered, the right solution is to remind me about it, not delete your post silently and hope nobody notices. I don't see any reason why you should be able to void fast-signs. The only time we allow that is for involuntary auto-signs for the farm.

I have updated the file to the day before the preseason start. Since the schedule won't appear until the next game day, I will sim the next three game days on Saturday. There are 5 games per game day, so everybody plays once every three days. After Saturday I'll do the usual one game day per real day for the rest of the preseason.

Get thine lines in.

I uploaded the first two days of preseason games. I'll do the next two tomorrow night so more of you have time to submit lines, and then it's back to real time.

Eric Staal leads preseason scoring.

I was going to fix the front page schedule but I didn't. In the meantime, just check the fill schedule for results:

I've now simmed September 15, which means all remaining unsigned RFAs will be accepting their qualifying offers tonight. I think we had a whopping one offer sheet. Poor Sam Reinhart.

I'm surprised no one took a run at Forsling or Schmaltz.

Chris Calnan should be at 1.15M (previous salary was the same as Arkhip Nekolenko).

I simmed the last two nights since I didn't have time yesterday/this morning. 8 more days to go.

Logan MacMillan took out Dmitri Samurokuv for two months, although it's down to one by now. Does anyone care enough for me to suspend players for regular season games based on preseason incidents?

Maybe just change the minimum length of injury requirement? I don't care about a guy going down for 2 weeks or something but if someone gets knocked out for the season, there's gotta be something.

Are we doing something with players unhappy with their contract, like switching something in the files or do we just don't care?
Cause Oleg Misyul's being a bitch right now.
