Results here: https://ehec.pro/schedule.php
League file here: https://ehec.pro/EHEC.zip
The Devils' Jake Oettinger collapses to end a wildly successful rookie season, but not before Eric Staal destroys Laurent Dauphin indefinitely, earning himself a lot of time off*. Meanwhile, John Gibson helps the Panthers hold on to a tight 3-2 lead and force the only first round game 7 on Thursday.
All of this is eclipse by the fact that the Czech-Slovenia WC game finished 0-0 despite Anze Kopitar's absence.
* I suppose we might need a playoff-specific ATI rule.

Game has a suspension system in place already, if he wasn't suspended clearly it wasn't egregious.

We've had supplementary suspensions since... well I think Adam introduced the rule, so a while (and in fact it was originally just for head injuries, which happens to be what the victim got). So Staal gets the 10 games just like Penner got 2 earlier.DaveG-Canes wrote: ↑Wed Apr 22, 2020 6:36 pm Game has a suspension system in place already, if he wasn't suspended clearly it wasn't egregious.

If I remember correctly, Adam also introduced an IRREVOCABLE rule saying that a player traded during the playoffs is also suspended for 7 games. I guess that leaves Bern without Pietrangelo for the next 7 games against me?SharksGM wrote: ↑Thu Apr 23, 2020 10:46 pmWe've had supplementary suspensions since... well I think Adam introduced the rule, so a while (and in fact it was originally just for head injuries, which happens to be what the victim got). Sucks but yeah I mean...rules are rules and without them it's anarchy.

10 playoff games is a HUGE suspension, to be fair to Dave - even Kadri didn't get that much as a repeat offender in last year's playoffs.

I mean it's a hit to the head that caused a guy to be out indefinitely and our rules are unambiguous. It's also not entirely unjust because I looked up the last time Staal was suspended and it was for taking out one of Florida's top forwards (Connor Brickley) on March 2019.AvalancheGM wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2020 6:38 pm 10 playoff games is a HUGE suspension, to be fair to Dave - even Kadri didn't get that much as a repeat offender in last year's playoffs.
I am somewhat frustrated by the number of ATI penalties causing injuries, but it's mostly because the suspensions we add can't possibly have a deterrent effect. I think if the NHL actually penalized reckless hits that are intended to hurt the victim they'd have a similar frequency of ATIs and suspensions. The flipside is that we have much fewer random injuries than the NHL, which is more than enough to offset the fact that players don't play through injuries the way they do IRL.

Yeah, I'm not questioning the rules so much as making an observation. Playoff games should count for more in a suspension than reg season, IMO - so a 10-gamer in reg season would be 5 in playoffs. Just my two cents.
