Best/favourite hockey jerseys

Gracefully transitioning the discussion from the preseason thread to here. I think the question was best NHL jerseys and I have to go for clean and elegant logos like triangle penguin and its classy as hell jersey gradients:



... and the Whalers, Nordiques, original Jets, etc. etc. But #1 across all of hockey? It's the Orlando Solar Bears, no doubt. Their orange jersey had a kind of crappy design, but nothing beats the logo, and behold this:

I don't know what I'd take for best of any team but these were my favourite Oiler jerseys.



And I do wish they'd stop using the orange ones.

I think my favourite of all-time are the Whalers' jerseys, though I quite like the Canucks' skate logo jerseys from the 90s, too. Montreal's home jerseys are great (their whites are kinda boring though)... I'm also a big fan of the current Stars' jerseys.

Across all of hockey? The Brampton Beast put out a Remembrance Day jersey every year, and they are usually all quite good... but one year they had these, which I think are incredible:

I did really like the triangular penguin look. Also liked the Jets' look before they moved - better than their original logo/jerseys.

I design jersey concepts so pretty interested in this stuff. I've always thought the Islanders should have an orange third jersey exactly like their home and away, with thick white and blue stripes.

The Oilers' orange jerseys are nice but should only be a third.

I've always liked the Sharks' colours, but I hate how they refuse to have waist stripes. They also need to get rid of the silly orange stripe on the sleeves.

Honestly, I liked the Captain Highliner look and not ironically. The logo was actually pretty cool. It was better when they made the jersey striping more normal though.

Yeah, the Habs' whites are pretty bad. Literally no sleeve stripes and two tiny thin ones on the waist.

I thought the Wild knocked it out of the park with the North Stars look. That and the Avs' Nordiques jersey are the best of the bunch.

It was about time the Habs had a blue jersey and they did a great job. Just a recoloring of their normal reds.

Worst: Detroit, Winnipeg, Anaheim, NYI (literally their current jersey with a darker blue - they should've brought back Captain Highliner)

Meh, I get that but they're still great designs. I wish Vancouver had combined two eras the way MIN, COL, BUF did. Could've had a blue/green skate logo or a red/black/yellow orca.

Kings did a great job, recoloring their 90s logo (which remains their best).

I'm not a big fan of Chicago in black, but the jersey is well-executed for sure. Not like some teams, *cough* Leafs *cough*

I completely get the sentiment of not liking when teams use jerseys of fans who lost their teams, but from a purely how they look perspective, Colorado and Carolina's are fantastic, especially Colorado. I hate to say it but I love Chicago's. LA, Arizona, Boston are nice too.

I don't hate Winnipeg's, but it would look SO much better in red than grey. I also second the opinion that Vancouver should've combined two eras, could've got some really cool looking designs out of that.

Detroit's is stupid, Anaheim's is ugly (and it's too bad because that logo and their colours give them so many options to create beautiful jerseys, yet they come up with that). NYI jersey is fine except it's pretty much no different lol

Detroit's is a fucking practice jersey. PHI's is boring. I'm a pens fan, but that is boring too - shoulda been the triangle penguin with retro colors.

I love Phoenix's. LA's is fantastic as well.

Detroit's is just awful. No red. I would have them ranked dead last if the Islanders hadn't decided to trot out their existing jersey with almost nothing changed.

Detroit's isn't a tricolor, I tried doing one with two shades of red but it didn't come out so great.
