The first do-or-die game of the series starts off poorly for the Hawks, as P-O Joseph takes the lead early in the first. Dan Girardi scores his first of the playoffs to even things up two minutes later, but the Hawks dig themselves a huge hole, conceding a goal from Jason Spezza and two straight by Klim "Konn Ksmythe" Kostin. Then, drama and tragedy strike as Michael Downing takes a golf swing at Thomas Vanek's ankle, shattering it into a million tiny pieces. The Hawks rack up some shots on the ensuing major penalty but fail to score a single goal.
Downing steps back onto the ice in the third and heads straight to the bench (I assume, since he finished +2). Before the Habs forward can get back into the play, Michael Frolik tucks in a sweet feed from Tyler Seguin. Energized and motivated, Frolik sets up Brock Nelson five minutes later, and Aidan Muir tips a Dan Girardi blast from the point to complete the comeback!
... well, not quite. Having tied the game up, Brendan Warren trickles one through over the goal line for his second of the playoffs and - spoiler alert - the eventual Cup winning goal for you trivia hounds. Big Old Man #6, Brian Boyle, adds an insurance marker with 6 to go in the third, and that's all she wrote.
Congrats to Ty and the Habs for their first EHEC championship, getting it done in style with two sweeps and a 16-2 record - possibly an EHEC record as well. Condolences to Bern if you're feeling generous - remarkably, this was the Hawks first appearance in the EHEC Finals despite having made the playoffs every year. And thanks to all of you for another hard-fought season in which we all ultimately got thoroughly owned (well, except for Ty).

Re: June 1, 2021
Thanks all - have to say I definitely did not expect this. Congrats to Chicago on making it to the Finals, and to everyone for another season in the books.
And thanks very much to those who run the league daily - I operated a EHM league many moons ago, I know it can be a lot of work.
I look forward to my first off-season and seeing if I can live up to the challenge of not completely ruining this team!

Congrats Ty.
Whether it's running the BBHL before me or the Habs after me, seems things go better with you at the helm.

We'll definitely etch your name into the Cup as GM, I'll put mine in as CoachVik (Habs) wrote: ↑Wed Jun 02, 2021 11:50 pm Congrats Ty.

There's a fitting proposal. Vik built the team and Ty led them to glory.
