Ducks hold onto top spot in the league with a tough 3-2 road win over the Jets in the marquee matchup of the evening. Elsewhere, the Sharks also win on the road with a 3-2 win over the Avs, a pair of shutouts with the Wings and Islanders blanking the Blues and Lightning, respectively. And then a bunch of other games...

I'll take it.
I admire Alex Edler's consistency and determination but wish he'd set a goal other than "lowest on-ice sv% in the league"

Detroit goalies so far this season:

Admittedly some of this may have to do with my efforts to keep Tim Stützle in the lineup to start the season (I never planned to keep him the whole season, but wanted to get him a handful of games).
- Campbell: 0-6-1, 4.12 gaa, .886 sv%, 0 shutouts
- Parsons: 1-1-0, 3.47 gaa, .877 sv%, 0 shutouts
- Mahalek: 0-1-0, 4.14 gaa, .905 sv%, 0 shutouts
- Daws: 4-1-1, 1.64 gaa, .948 sv%, 1 shutout

I gotta say Kevin, your development plan for Stutzle and Eklund has me completely baffled.

The mistake you might be making is assuming I have any clue what I'm doingAvalancheGM wrote: ↑Thu Nov 25, 2021 11:34 am I gotta say Kevin, your development plan for Stutzle and Eklund has me completely baffled.
Well, okay, I had an idea, but in hindsight it was almost certainly bad. I probably should have put Stütlze in the AHL last year, but I knew that the '21 draft would be far stronger for me than the '20 was, so I wanted to hold him back a bit. Then with the '21 draft, my three first rounders (Eklund, Othmann, and L'Heureux) all had much better starting numbers than Stütlze, which I hadn't been expecting, so they're all much farther along in their development. I debated which of the three I should put in the AHL, eventually deciding that Eklund was good enough for the NHL and that L'Heureux was closer to the NHL than Othmann (it was L'Heureux's high-40s hitting vs Othmann's low-30s checking).
In theory there's no real issue, Stütlze will go to the AHL next year at 20 and develop fine. If Eklund has any issues from not being in the AHL, I can always send him down in two seasons to round out his game. But, well, you know what they say about theories ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I guess if your plan is a longer rebuild then postponing Stutzle's development is no big issue. My worry would be the damage to Eklund's defensive development. Not that he's going to be good defensively anyway, but there's a big difference between 60 and 72.
