Your EHEC draftees team or current roster?

Post by SharksGM »

A fun exercise: consult your team's draft history page and construct a team out of those picks. Is it better than your current roster? Probably not unless your team likes to draft high and then trade those draftees for more picks, but here goes:

Tkachuk-Kakko-Yamamoto
Lindblom-Keller-McFarland
Koskenkorva-McBain-Tornkvist
Sutter-Klefbom-Rakell

Gildon-Jacobs
McCoshen-Spencer
Pilon-Bereglazov

Vasilevski - Askarov

... yeah ... I'll take what I've got. I should have picked more booster forwards back in the day; the bottom 6 is dire.

I chose to interpret this as which players I personally drafted would I play if I was trying to win one game.

Code: Select all

Matthew Tkachuk Martin Necas Klim Kostin
Jason Robertson David Cotton Fredrik Forsberg
Trent Fox Matt Filipe Yevgeni Mityakin
Henrik Borgstrom	Alexander Khovanov	Jesper Bratt

	Gustav Lindstrom Gabriel Sylvestre
	Devante Stephens Artyom Minulin
	Libor Hajek Tory Dello

			Stuart Skinner
			Vitek Vanecek
Going back to pre-me days, I think the 1st round of the 2010 draft is the only one with anything useful (Kuznetsov, Nemeth, Johns).

I think my 3rd rounders are where I've done the best:
2015
David Cotton
Tory Dello

2016
Henrik Borgstrom
Yevgeni Mityakin
Jesper Bratt
Gabriel Sylvestre

2017
Luke Martin
Gustav Lindstrom
Alexei Toropchenko
Dmitri Samorukov

2018
Albin Eriksson
Alexander Khovanov
Vladislav Syomin

2019
Nathan Legare
Dustin Wolf
Oleg Zaitsev

Biggest misses were the two high drafted boosters who didn't (Isaac Ratcliffe and Marcus Davidsson).
Biggest hits gotta be Klim Kostin and Devante Stephens (even if Stephens is only useful because he's with someone else).

According to the draft history page, Detroit has made 64 picks in 11 seasons, an average of just under 6 per season. Which would be fine for this kind of fun side game, but 17 of those picks were literally just made. Plus, of the 47 from 10 years, only 9 were first or second round picks, so there's really not much to go on here. Especially at centre... and goal...

Nonetheless, I tried ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Code: Select all

Vladimir Tarasenko	Tim Stutzle Vasili Podkolzin
Mirko Hoefflin Thomas Bordeleau	Ivan Lodnia
Nikita Gusev Jaromir Pytlik Richard Nejezchleb
Adam Lowry Zayde Wisdom Filip Cederqvist

	Dougie Hamilton Jeremy Roy
	Adam Boqvist Damir Galin
	Valeri Vasiliev William Wallinder

		Evan Fitzpatrick
		Chase Perry
You might be questioning my choice of centres (all four of whom I picked this past draft), but the Detroit-picked centre with the highest overall is Mike Winther, 73-62-68, so I'd rather use the kids.

(I should note, I stuck closely to the positions listed on my draft history page, mostly out of laziness, and would probably adjust things a bit if I were to use alternate positions for some players)

Holy shit. My team would be downright brutal if it was only people that were drafted. Tampa has made 61 picks, and only 1 of those was in the first 2 rounds, and 52 of those picks were 4th round or later.

Michael Bunting-Cole Cassels-Connor Rankin
Kevin Hayes-Gustav Bjorklund-Patrick Bajkov
Cole Ully-Alexandre Alain-Samuel Laberge
Ivan Kosorenkov-Reid Gardiner-Johan Larsson

Ryan Murray-Jani Hakanpaa
Pavel Yelshansky-Nolan De Jong
Tim Bender-Brien Diffey

Evan Sarthou
Michael McNiven

Only 5 of these guys would even crack my current roster.

St. Louis

Code: Select all

Nikolay Goldobin	Dylan Cozens Jesse Puljujarvi
Ostap Safin Cody Glass Kristian Vesalainen
Alexander Wennberg	Ryan Spooner Alex DeBrincat
Alexander Volkov	Santeri Virtanen	Spencer Smallman

	Rasmus Dahlin Juuso Valimaki
	Olli Juolevi Conor Timmins
	Lucas Carlsson Cale Fleury

			Filip Gustavsson
			Spencer Martin
Pretty much went by what I could remember of guys so entirely possible I overlooked someone. A lot of recent draft picks in there including the entire D group. Probably one high end forward shy of being a really solid lineup.

I'd say Vancouver's the team to beat right now.

Whoever ran my team in the past drafted absolutely no one of any consequence from 2017-19. Even after trading the top picks, you should be able to get something with 3rd/4th rounders...

Landeskog-Kuokkanen-Forsberg
Tufte-Warren-Freytag
Zadrazil-Lamsa-Roslovic
Pavlychev-Jaremko-Senyshyn

Lindell-Merrill
Schmaltz-Struble
Greenway-Yermoshenko

Saros (77 OA, 86 con)
Jean Auren (73 OA, 73 con)

Kuokkanen, Freytag and Roslovic are on my current team. Landeskog, Forsberg, Lindell, Merrill, Saros would make my club.

Victor Soderstrom - Anthony DeAngelo
Danila Galenyuk - Jett Woo
Valeri Orekhov - Mathew Dumba

Brandon Halverson
Evan Cormier

Those top two lines though.....

SETH JONES - LINUS HULSTROM
CEDRIC HACHLER - GUILLAUME BRISEBOIS
ERIC ROY - JOHN DRAEGER

EAMON McADAM
LIAM LISTON

I gotta say, not a bad few offensive lines. But otherwise, that defense - WOOF

The New Jersey Devils, otherwise known as Tampa Bay's feeder team, have had a chequered history:

Pettersson - Seguin - Biggs
Aho - Dach - Meier
Fagemo - Thomas - Gogolev
Looke - Hutsko - Niederreiter

Fowler - Makar
Hagg - Ceci
McIsaac - Maatta

Oettinger - Husso

They drafted Seguin and Fowler in 2010, then pissed it all away for magic beans. Le sigh.

It could be worse, he could given away a ticket to the McDavid lottery for Eric Brewer in a deal he lost without the 1st being included. And in the year of McDavid's draft, have Luca Sbisa as the team's best dman. Can you imagine what terrible shape a team would be in if someone was allowed to do that.

GOALIES
1 Hellberg
2 Kahkonen

DEFENSE
1 Broberg - Chychrun
2 Pulock - Schneider
3 Montour - Siegenthaler

I miss Scherbak and Bleackley, they were my favrouties.
Not missing much anyone else who got traded away, though. Well, maybe Hellberg.
