Okay, here's my write up on the night's 11 games.
The night started with a penalty filled affair in Boston as the home team took 8 minors but didn't allow a single powerplay goal and pulled out a 3-2 overtime victory. Boston is now 2-2-0-1, while Washington drops to 2-4-1-0.
I don't think there's much to say about Colorado-San Jose, neither goalie played that well, no one player had that great a game. It was back and forth, each team holding the lead twice before Brady Tkachuk scored the winner, while an empty net goal sealed the 6-4 victory for San Jose. The Sharks move up to 3-1-1-0 on the season, while Colorado sit at 2-4-0-1.
The futility continues in Detroit as my wings fall 4-2 to the Flames in Tyler Parsons' first start for the team. Parsons managed to stop all 13 shots Calgary had on their 4 powerplays, but Kochetkov was still the better goalie on the night. Calgary is back at .500 with a 3-3-0-0 record while my lowly Wings remain the only winless team at 0-5-0-1.
Not a whole lot happened in Edmonton's 3-1 victory over Winnipeg - just four penalties total. Portillo stopped 23 or 24 shots for the win but still wasn't named a star, and the Oilers are now 3-1-1-0, just ahead of the Jets' 2-3-0-1 record.
Florida went 1 for 7 on the powerplay, putting up 14 shots, but it was enough for a point as they tied Dallas 2-2. The Stars remain near the top of the standings with their 4-1-0-1 record while the Panthers sit near the bottom at 2-1-1-1.
Speaking of teams near the top, the Habs 6-4 victory over the Devils means they stay as the only team without a regulation loss, going to 4-0-1-1 on the season despite Sarthou allowing 4 goals on 24 shots. Nikolai Glukhov put up 8 hits and 8 takeaways, which makes me wonder what the record high is for a single game. The loss drops the Devils to 2-3-1-1.
Tyler Seguin and Nikita Filatov each had 1g2a on the night and Dubnyk stopped 19 of 20 as Nashville went to 4-1-1-0 and beat the now 4-3-1-0 Penguins.
I already talked a bit about the Flyers-Ducks battles in their 4-4 tie, but I'll also note that Alexander Radulov had a hat-trick and the first three goals of the game were all on the powerplay. The Flyers are now 1-3-0-2 while the Ducks are 4-3-0-1.
Arizona thoroughly outshot and outscored the Kings, winning 5-1 while shots were 38-20. The Coyotes are 3-2-0-0 while the Kings, who had been the last team with a 100% record, drop to 5-1-0-0.
Carey Price stopped all 16 shots and led the Lightning to a 3-0 victory over the Islanders. The win has Tampa at 3-2-0-1, while the Islanders fall to 2-3-1-1.
And finally, in the night's third 5-1 contest, the Leafs beat the Rangers. Tuukka Rask let in 5 goals on 29 shots and
presumably tried to break his stick while leaving the ice but instead fell down. Toronto moves to 4-1-1-0, while the Rangers surprisingly are 1-3-0-1 on the season. Rumour has it that the Rangers are going to shake things up by trading all their best players to Detroit
