NYR // WPG

Post by NYRNYRNYR »

TO NYR:
Jake Oettinger [80]
Samuel Savoie [70]

TO WPG:
Jhonas Enroth [74]
Joel Farabee [80]
Brady Cleveland [82]

Whelp middle of a slide with some iffy-goaltending and I had tried to signed Otter in UFA. WPG outbid and I didn't want to spend that much, and here we are and I have to give futures to get him. Still, he's struggling in WPG, who is, in fairness, rebuilding. I bring him in to hopefully a new scenery and he can stare at Gildon, Glukhov and Bischel all day.

Cleveland already boosted this past off-season which means he will be a hulking D someday, but I already have Bischel, and we're in now-mode.

Farabee and Savoie are fairly similar in most ways, except the inverse OFF/DEF and I make back the 900K-ish in Otter vs Enroth.

Almost any move I make that doesn't touch impact futures is going to be rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. Oettinger swapping with Enroth will have no impact on the fortunes of this roster.

I have plenty of cap space.

My team sucks defensively anyway, so keeping Savoie right now isn't going to make much of a difference. Savoie at this price point is more valuable to a team who can use him to compete in the window of his cheap years. I will be there by the end of his deal. but I am not particularly attached to him. Farabee has flaws too, but on a short deal with more offensive upside he enables my roster of bums to play more of a spoiler role.

Cleveland isn't going to set the world on fire, but he should provide several years of affordable defensive depth.

Sold. Appreciate it.
