Anaheim draft review

Post by AnaheimGM »

After a bad season last year for the Anaheim ducks, this was time for the team to rebuilt their bank of prospect in the 2011 draft. General manager Jonathan Tremblay was pretty happy of the players the team took after the draft. Here is the results of this 2011 selection:

1st round 26 overall: Joe Morrow( D-man 6' 0'', 196 lbs)

Joe Morrow is a great two way d-man who will be a safe pick for Anaheim Ducks. He is a really fast skater. He will be in the top 4 d-man aligment in few years. He has a low cons but this part doesn't affraid m.Tremblay. Morrow will not make the team this year but he will play for Syracuse to gain somme experience and help him to make the pro team in 1 season.

3rd round 70 overall: Karl Johansson ( D-man 5' 8'', 167 lbs)

Johansson is a really small d-man who can move the puck really well. He is known for his attack ability. Like Morrow, he is fats but has a low cons too. This is the kind of d-man that take time to reach his top potentiel but the team will be patient with him and let him work in AHL. This is a long shot prospect.

4rth round 100 overall: Mario Lucia ( LW 6' 2'', 183 lbs)

The team does'nt know what to expect from Lucia because they doesn't scout him really well. Al we know about him is that he his a great sniper who can help a team in powerplay. He will probably help AHL team for some years and help Ducks when injury comes.

5th round 130 overall: Nicolas Krammer ( LW/RW 6'1'' 185 lbs)

This is a long shot prospect who love the defensive aspect from the play. He doesn't like to throw body check but he can protect himelf as well. We have some project with him in a 3rd line spots with Kennedy and Mcmillan in 2 or 3 years.

7th round 190 overall: Fedor Belyakov ( D-man 6' 0'' 194 lbs)
We took him because he call us the day before the draft and make some threat to send us the Russian Mafia if we don't take him in the draft. Nothing other to say about him.
