Signed: Hudon.

When I CPU-controlled you, the game offered and signed Martinez, Demers, and Hendry. I'm going to reset that to 0 contract length and keep them as RFA in your system after the summer rollover.

Boyes, Kronwall and Rozsival to arbitration, please.

Can I get confirmation on how many pending UFAs I can attempt to re-sign? Moen and Poni are gone for sure, but do Lidstrom and Kubina count? Do I have to decide now whether to pick up Kubina's option or not?

# of expiring contracts 32 & over/# eligible to be signed
1/1
2/2
3/2
4/2
5+/3

You have (Rozsival, Boyes (32 in July), Poni, Nabby, Moen, Kubina (TO), and Lidstrom retiring)

So you can sign up to 3 of the 5. Technically, though Kubina is expiring, the team option makes him exempt.

Ok then, nothing to add other than to re-sign Doherty for four years at 400k or whatever with a two-way.

Doherty's min should have been 400k, so his next contract will be 500k. Of course, he should hit at least 73 DF, so it really should be 1.15M (100% base inc. + 350k def spec).

But, whatever, we use the current/fastsim and neither has him at 73 DF, so it'll be 500k.

Awards have been determined in the Niklas Kronwall and Michal Rozsival arbitrations.

Kronwall
Terms: 3 yrs
GM proposal: 3M per; comps: Stuart, Grossman, Volchenkov, Staal, Beauchemin
Agent proposal: 3.9M per; comps: Ballard, Wisniewski, Brewer

Kronwall's an interesting case because of how little offense he put together. He's almost a carbon copy of Eric Brewer sans the high leadership that Brewer has. Both players are 60 OF 78 DF and 77 and 80 CON. However, Kronwall managed just seven points while Brewer more than tripled that.

Brad Stuart is a pretty close comp minus Stuart's additional offensive skill and higher LE. Kronwall certainly isn't regressing though and one of the points that was made during Eric Brewer's arbitration last year is that he was coming off a season where he was a valuable part of the Penguins 2011 playoff season. Where the Penguins fell short, Kronwall and his team won the Stanley Cup. He would definitely have the "Rob Scuderi Penguins Cup Run" argument from real life on his side.

Considering that Kronwall is coming off a Stanley Cup season, he would certainly be paid more on the open market. A raise is in order here despite less offensive production. Kronwall did have north of 25 points in both of his previous seasons and it's fair to expect more offensive contribution next year.

I award Kronwall $3,400,000 for the next three seasons.

Rozsival
Terms: 2 yrs + TO
GM proposal: 4M per; comps: Stuart, Whitney, Ballard, Hamhuis, Tyutin, Morris, Smid
Agent proposal: 4.1M per; comps: Johnson, Ballard, Martin

Rozsival is overpaid and all sides agree with that. With a small range in this case, not much of an explanation is required. The question here is if Rozsival would demand the extra 100k or if 50k would be sufficient. He is, after all, a reigning Stanley Cup champ.

Because Rozsival was acquired by the Sharks and was able to hoist the Cup with them, his representation is willing to take the 20% pay cut in hopes that the Sharks can get back there again.

I award Rozsival $4,000,000 for the next two seasons with a team option for a third.

Dan, you can accept/reject these awards.

Offer:

Vasilevski (default, two-way)
Maidens (1.25M, 600k bonus, no two-way)
L. Sutter (1.15M, 570k bonus, no two-way)
Mraz (850k, 425k bonus, no two-way)

All 3 years. No pattern here, except that I forgot the bonus for boosters the first time so I just edited those in. Give the closest legal bonus if those exact values aren't allowed.

Alright, let's see... Backstrom, Sturm, Kubina and Zubrus can fuck off. Skille has an option. Getzlaf, Komisarek and Clowe are going to arbitration. That leaves:

Radulov - 2.9 base, 78 ov, 75% increase, 2.9*1.75 = 5.075 base, +100k for 83 sk, +350k for offensive specialist, -100k for 63 hitting, equals 5.425 total.

Forbort - 1.65 base, 75 ov, 100% increase, 1.65*2 = 3.3 base, +100k for 80sk (it drops below 85 in the fastsim), +250k for exactly 80 con (sigh), -100k for 62 pe, equals 3.55 total.

Telegin - 1.4 base, 76 ov, 100% increase, 1.4*2 = 2.8 base, -100k for 63 sh, equals 2.7 total.

Okposo - 1.8 base, 72.5 ov, 75% increase, 1.8*1.75 = 3.15 base, +100k for 84 en, +200k for 85 fa, equals 3.45 total. Ouch.

Zaytsev - 400k base, 67 ov, 100% increase, 0.4*2 = 0.8 base, +200k for 83 con, -100k for 62 sh, -100k for 61 pl, -100k for 63 pe, equals 0.7 total.

Feel free to correct any mistakes. I guess I'd like to re-sign Tatar, Wrenn and Hughes on the farm for whatever piddly two-way deals they require, too.

Re: San Jose Sharks Contract Offers

Post by GoJetsGo »

Radulov.. good.
Forbort.. no devaluation/bonus for PE, rest good $3,650,000.
Telegin.. I used current file 75/79 = 77 avg. 150% (2.5 * 1.4) = $3.5M - 100k (SH) = $3,400,000
Okposo.. No endurance bonus. Still a crappy $3,350,000
Zaytsev.. u70, 25% increase 500,000 + 250,000 (CON) = $750,000 SH PL -200,000 = $550,000

Tatar $850,000 25% increase to $500k + 350k specialist
Wrenn Under 60 average; offer what he asks in game.
Hughes 25% increase, specialist, = $1,287,500 (Slightly ridiculous for a clear farm guy.)

Forbort, Telegin and Zaytsev = 4 years (I'll save you the effort on TOs), max SB.
Radulov = 3 years + TO, Okposo = 1 year + TO, Tatar = 4 years + TW, Wrenn = 2 years TW. Default SB.
Hughes = go away

Re: San Jose Sharks Contract Offers

Awards have been determined in the Mike Komisarek, Ryane Clowe, and Ryan Getzlaf arbitrations.

Mike Komisarek:
GM proposed: 4.2M per for 4 years; comps: Regehr, Orpik, Kronwall, Ohlund, Gleason
Agent proposed: 3.8M per for 4 years; comps: Orpik, Volchenkov

As has been my policy as arbitrator, when the GM's offer is higher than the agent's, there's nothing left to discuss.

Dan, you can accept/reject Komisarek at 4.2M per for 4 years.

Ryane Clowe:
GM proposed: 3.5M per for 3 years
Agent proposed: 3.5M per for 3 years

We're in agreement here. I like when that happens.

Dan, you can accept/reject Clowe at 3.5M per for 3 years.

Ryan Getzlaf:
GM proposed: 5.8M per for 4 years; comps: Richards, Staal, Sutter, Backes, Kopitar
Agent proposed: 6.75M per for 4 years; comps: Kopitar, Spezza

Finally, something for me to do! In the case of Ryan Getzlaf, we're talking about one of the game's elite talents. He's a perfectly-balanced player at 83 OF 81 DF and has one of the file's best CONs at 89. He just turned 28 in May and would have gotten a shade over 7.1M by the formula, so no matter what, Dan is getting a discount. He is a terrific centerman and a great faceoff guy. There are no true weaknesses in Getzlaf's game, except that his PL could be a little bit higher. Even still, he had 41 assists, just missed 30 goals, and was 9th in TA/GA ratio among centers.

Because Getzlaf just missed out on the formula, I have to take that into consideration. His performance was impressive, especially because he's more of a well-rounded player than the guys who put up higher point totals. Getzlaf is one of the premier two-way centermen in the file and deserves to be paid like one. Kopitar is definitely the closest comp. I won't award Getzlaf the full 6.75 because his playoff performance was rather uninspiring with a -5 and a first-round exit for the Sharks and I don't believe there's only 50k of difference between Kopitar, with 92 FA, 99 HI, and coming off an 87-point season. But, Getzlaf certainly deserves to get paid.

Dan, you can accept/reject 6.5M for 4 years for Getzlaf.

A decision has been reached in the Francois Beauchemin rights case:

GM proposal: $2.5M, 1 yr + TO
Agent proposal: $2.2M

Simple, this. Dan's outbid the agent, so he can sign Beauchemin for $2.5.

Just FYI, but I think the min offer on Beauchemin was 2.28 (80% of 2.85). Anyway, I'll take it.

Also, I think McCoshen also needs an extra 250k on his ELC for being a booster. Plus hopefully another 250k after he boosts ;)

Agent proposal: $4,400,000

Helped take a team to conference finals, but yet to prove he's an elite goaltender. GM proposed slight pay cut, agent a slight pay raise. Arbitrator splits the diff and awards JB a slight cost-of-living pay raise to 4.3M. Back to you, Dan.
