Even wins aren't happy occasions for the Avalanche, who lose Ryan O'Reilly for the next six months. Chris Summers was suspended eight games by EHM, but I will be tacking an additional two games onto that per our injury policy.

Devin Setoguchi's intent-to-injure penalty doesn't actually result in an injury, but it does result in two powerplay goals as the Flyers blank the Stars. Ilya Bryzgalov was busy pondering the universe instead of stopping pucks as the Blackhawks curbstomped the Coyotes. Boston gets thoroughly outplayed, but grabs the skills competition point from the Sabres. The Sens blast the Isles, who are still looking to get some chemistry with all of their new players. The Flames outwork the Habs, but still come up on the short end. Niklas Backstrom pitches a shutout against the Preds. Plenty of other action on a busy Tuesday night in EHEC.

Not to rub it in, but they were all even strength goals, too. I know it wouldn't make it any better if they were PPGs, but that was shocking.

Wow, that's a pretty serious beating there. Okposo and Skille own. Best 3rd & 4th line centers around.

Somehow Milwaukee only managed 3 shots in the entire game, ouch.

Seriously? Averaging 1 major injury per 2 games? Really?

Another injury from some no-name scrub. This time, I lose a guy for the season.

Summers needs more than 10 games. Last season, this clown took out Radulov and Stone. Also last year in the preseason, he had another attempt to injure penalty against me.

25:45 EDM Chris Summers (5 min for attempt to injury)

15-20 games for this repeat offender.

I'd like to see us stop handing out suspensions like its Christmas, and start tracking/punishing repeat offenders. Hockey is a physical game, just because an injury results does not mean a suspension is warranted. We can't see what occured, this was the same logic used when I asked about lecavs CREI.

Tommy and I will look into it further. One of the big factors in any decision will be the fact that we just now implemented this system. If we start holding offenders accountable for past transgressions, that will set a standard.

We will discuss it though, as your evidence is compelling.

You're in the minority with this line of thinking. Many people were in support of suspensions during the offseason discussion.

Yes we can. I can't remember for Radulov and Stone, but this clown has at least two intent to injure penalties against my team alone.

It might of sounded good, but with how this is all playing out I think we might want to re-consider the system. Quinn, even with an intent to injure, you still didnt see the play. There is varying degrees of trying to hurt a guy, but they all fall under the same umbrella/call. Developing a system based off an injury occuring and an intent to injure penalty called sounds most realistic to me; start tracking intent to injure penalties (that result in a injury) so repeat offenders can be punished more.

Righy now were using a system where a guy lands a clean hit, hurts a guy, and gets suspended on a hockey play. I don't see why anyone would be in favor of this.

So, to clarify, five minute major penalties result from clean hits?

BTW, we ARE only suspending for injuries resulting from intent-to-injure hits.

41:12 EDM Chris Summers (5 min for attempt to injury)
41:12 EDM Chris Summers (10 min game misconduct)

That didn't come out of thin air.

Only 2 week or longer injuries resulting from an intent-to-injure penalty. Injuries occurring at random, without a major penalty, are not suspension worthy.
