Nicolas Deschamps has been given a game-generated 11-game suspension for injuring Kirill Kabanov until September.

We cracked open a 12-pack tonight in EHEC and some teams seemed to lose their inhibitions partway through the game. Carolina was the first victim, blowing a 3-1 lead and losing in overtime to the Capitals as Zach Parise completed the comeback in extra time. Next, the New Jersey Devils flirted with disaster, nearly blowing a three-goal lead that they built in the span of five minutes in the second period. The Lightning blew their 2-0 lead in a matter of 56 seconds, but scored twice in the third to down the Isles 4-2. The Jets gave up Jonas Brodin's first NHL with one second left in the second to make it a 3-2 game, but put their foot back on the gas in the third to put it away. Following Kirill Kabanov's injury, the Wild built a 3-1 lead, only to lose 4-3 in overtime on a Chris Campoli game winner. Chicago pissed away a 3-1 lead, but were saved by the sweet stick of Jonathan Toews with a power play game winner. Nashville squandered a 2-0 lead against orphan Vancouver and lost on a Paul Mara power play goal in the third.

The Blue Jackets and Sharks both picked up convincing wins over Pacific Division teams. Jordan Staal fought three times and picked up a 10-minute misconduct for the Coyotes, while there were goalie fisticuffs in the Shark Tank. With the Jackets victory and the Kings loss, the Jackets/Coyotes game could be a playoff preview, as the Jackets moved up into the #5 seed on the strength of their eight-game winning streak.

The Bruins picked up two big points against the Panthers to put four points of distance between them and the Sabres, who lost 5-2 to the Leafs.
